The Definitive Guide to Power Query (M): Mastering complex data transformation with Power Query

I have been working with Power BI for 8 years and have been about as deeply immersed in Power Query as one can be for most of that time. I'm only 400 pages in but have already learned several techniques and concepts I didn't know I was missing. This has served to tie together other key concepts and strengthen my skills. While I agree with an earlier reviewer who wrote "This book is geared more for someone familiar with Power Query", somebody new to Power Query who recognizes the importance of learning to use this powerful data transformation tool will find this to be a vital resource. This book stands out among so many technical books in that it functions equally well as one you can read through from front to back while working through the examples and as one you can go to when researching a solution to a specific challenge.

Great book to build thorough understanding of Power Query and M language.

I have several Power BI books but most focus more on Power Pivot and Dax than Power Query. This book is enormous and it's all PQ. I've got the thing bookmarked from front to back. Great reference for problem-solving and detailed PQ knowledge.

The issue I'm having is mapping all chapters PQ to the files. For example, CH 03 point to CH 07 why the authors can point the csv xml Json files to drive C only and put all the files there and all websites and workspaces security issues and credentials took me more than 2 hours to point only 1 chapter. All my expectation from this book is falling down.

This is definitely not a beginner's guide. It really breaks down M from the bottom up. This means it goes beyond the user interface of Microsoft's Power Query Editor. I have been working with Power Query for more than 5 year, but already in the first 100 pages I wrote down a dozen tips and tricks that I had not learned about before. Highly recommended for anyone who needs to understand how to extract, transform and load your data in a Power BI data model to the highest level.

Power Queryに関する解説本を色々読みました。 これまでは「Master Your Data with Power Query in Excel and Power BI」が最も印象に残りました。まだ読んでいない方は、先にそちらを読むことをお勧めします。Power Queryの基本から応用まで、幅広く学べます。 もし「Master Your Data with Power Query in Excel and Power BIの次に、何を読めば良いか」と聞かれたら、この書籍を推薦します。私もずっと探していましたが、やっと出会うことができました。 ▪︎良かった点 M言語について、体系立てて学ぶことができます。英語なので苦労はしますが、日本語書籍でこのレベルのものは、まだ存在しません。まだ読んでいる途中ですが、英語でも読みやすい内容です。 ▪︎気をつける点 内容がM言語に偏っていますので、Power Query 初心者向けではありません。個人的には、日本語解説書→ Master Your Data with Power Query in Excel and Power BI→本書の順番が良いと思います。 私はKindle版を購入しましたが、購入者は手続きを踏めば、PDF版をダウンロード出来るようです。おそらく、書籍版でもPDF版を入手出来ると思います。書籍とデジタルデータ両方欲しい方は、値段は高いですが、まず書籍版を購入することをお勧めします。
