Safely remove cork from vintage wine
This was purchased as a gift, but I have previously purchased it for personal use. The opener is well made, easy to use, and makes a wonderful gift to anyone who enjoys wine. The opener enables you to pull a cork that would otherwise crumble (think vintage wine). Definitely recommend!

Ah So Wine Opener
Great for the older vintage bottles. Works great.

The best style of wine opener, but prongs are too thick!
Issue is the thickness of the Ah SO...makes it really easy to push cork into the bottle... I have opened over 10, 000 bottles of wine ( not on the same night!), and live in a country where we normally drink wine at lunch and dinner, so perhaps another 10,000 bottles have been opened for me.... an AH SO is never used in Italy, I mean never. But for me this is the fastest, best, safest design... so WHY SO? Fast, you never touch the cork, perfect for super old corks. But... the prongs are not sharp enough!... the manufacturer needs to sharpen the tips! Go on YOUTUBE to see how to use, insertion, rocking action, twisting action and more strength than some people may want or be able to provide to make it work. I suggest the new air pump systems are great and may be easier for most people. This model of Ah So needs to have tips sharpened for it to work ideally ( I opened a 100 bottles of wine at a wedding party with an Ah So, in around 20 minutes flat, so for sure it is fast!, I also used an Ah So to open a ‘59 Chateaux Margot, and would not think of using a corkscrew unless in front of a guest shelling out the big bucks for the wine and the “show”.

It works, but you have to too
I originally purchased a two prong cork puller during a wine tasting tour in Napa Valley after watching the sommelier use to open all the bottles he was opening for the tasting and talking to him about it. When I got home and began to use it, I found that I actually preferred it over a corkscrew - especially for some of my older bottles where occasionally a cork had dried out and the corkscrew would only make it crumble and break up (I maintain a very small wine cellar of around 90 - 129 bottles so that I can enjoy the wines I like over a number of different ages and see how they age). Unfortunately, I loaned that puller to a friend and never got it back. So I bought this one and on first use could tell the prongs are not as stiff/robust as my original. It works, but you cannot drive the prongs between the cork and the bottle as easily as I would like - they flex too much to use real pressure as you rock it back and forth so you have to be careful and it will take more 'finesse' and patience to get it fully inserted so you can pull the cork. Also, because the tines are not as stiff, it was a bit more difficult to twist and pull the cork out than I expected. But then I guess that the old adage of 'you get what you pay for' is relevant here - the cost was low so I probably should not have been surprised. As I said, it works but you too have to spend a bit more time and care than you would with a more robust version

Ah-So Wine Opener is a Must for Vintage Wine Cork Removal
I have 15 year old to 30 year old basement cellar many stored wines that the corks are impossible to remove without crumbling apart a common problem with genuine real old school corked wines that are Vintage. I was shocked and Impressed how such inexpensive and well made product Ah-So Wine Opener - Two-Prong Cork Puller removed the old corks intact. I watched the Videos online to make sure how to use this because when i received the item and used it I had damaged the cork cause I did not know how to use the Ah-So Wine Opener - Two-Prong Cork Puller. The instructions as on the on line Video is to rock this Ah-So back and forth not push it down hard as the cork will be pushed through down in the bottle. when you rock the Ah-So Wine Opener - Two-Prong Cork Puller you twist and pull up a little then use your fingers and grasp the prongs and twist and pull the fragile cork as it comes out with no damage WOW. I was ecstatic I was glad, I purchased two of these to get free shipping on Amazon. There is nothing out there that is proven to remove old corks Ah-So Wine Opener is a Must for Vintage Wine Cork Removal I should get paid for this free review.

Is a 2-prong Ah-So cork puller better than the traditional corkscrew-type wine opener for removing fragile corks from older cellared wines? To answer this question, three bottles of a fully-mature 1995 Tokaji Furmint dessert wine with sugar crystals on the bottom of the corks were chilled to the same temperature. The first two attempts at uncorking employing different high-quality corkscrew wine openers with long worms suffered the same outcome ... fractured corks leaving the soft/adherent lower end of the cork still firmly attached to the neck of the bottle and pieces of cork contaminating the wine below. The final attempt at removing the cork intact with a Belwares Ah-So wine opener was successful ... photo attached. Subsequent trials with even older wines and longer 2-1/8" corks were equally successful. The Belwares Ah-So Wine Opener is an attractive unit with two different length stainless steel prongs ... a longer 2-3/8" & a shorter 2-1/4" countoured blade and tapered end, safely housed in a metal holding case. The handle securing the two prongs also functions as a bottle cap opener. The opener comes in hinged display case imprinted with user's instructions. The included instructions are incomplete and are likely responsible for any negative comment/review involving this Ah-So wine opener. A new user should first thoroughly review a YouTube video on "how to use an Ah-So wine opener" before attempting to use this type of wine opener. When correctly used, this attractively-priced all-metal Ah-So wine opener performed flawlessly with a wide selection of aged wines. My only suggestion to tweak its performance is to improve the taper at the sides & tips of the countoured prong blades to make it easier to insert and reduce the risk of pushing in the cork. The Belwares Ah-So Wine Opener is a good performer and a great buy.

Belwares Ah So Wine Opener Absolutely fantastic! Perfect gift to any wine lover. No more broken corks or cork chunks in your wine. Especially those great older bottles where after 20-30+ years the cork starts to fragment. With a rocking motion this slides in easily then with a twisting back and forth the cork pulls out easily. You just have to remember to keep the bottle slightly upright to not pour any out as the cork comes because I have a tenancy to hold the bottles nearly sideways when twisting out the cork. It is compact for easy travel for picnics, does not take up much space in the drawer and this one seems to be heavy duty. No rust after a couple years so really seems to be stainless.

I bought one of these because recently I had several bottles of wine where the cork was crumbling and the conventional corkscrew openers could not pull out the cork. These take a little more time, patience and strength but work well. I was able to make it work on the 1st try. I had one bottle where the cork was very tight so it took more hand strength to get it out but it worked on that also. People with little patience should look elsewhere though.
