Fine for a beginner
I'm an absolute beginner and know almost nothing about violins and violin strings. I don't think any strings will sound particularly good under the bow of a beginner. I gave the trings five stars only because they sound as expected. One tip for beginners: when stringing a violin, it helps if you oull the beg out a bit, lick a finger and then rub it on the beg where it goes into the hole. It stopped the peg from slipping when it pressed into the head as you're tuning it up.

First SOFT strings I've tried -- fine for beginners
Having never seen soft/light gauge strings before, I have nothing but expensive higher gauge Vision Solo, Dominants and Pirastro's to compare these to. Which is obviously not a fair comparison, because these are $20 strings. That said, a few observations: These strings do not come separately packaged from each other. It was hard to untangle them because they came all together in one envelope. 2) These did not have the little piece over the bridge on the E string that protects the bridge from the thinnest, tightest string (just used the one from the previous strings). 3) The wrappings on the ends are not that neat, at least compared to more expensive strings, and this actually made it harder to restring because the winding extended past the string and was kind of getting caught in the process. 4) The labels on the strings didn’t come off easily and were kind of a mess. Soft strings are clearly a lot thinner than others. They sound brighter overall, and the higher strings sound a little thin and tinny to me, but I think that’s the nature of soft strings, it’s hard to say whether these or better or worse than any others. They are clearly different, but I can’t say whether that’s good or bad. Certainly if you have to outfit a whole classroom full of violins for beginners, they’re plenty good, and you can’t beat the price.

A good extra set to have on hand. We've all been there!
These are a good set to have around either for needed single string replacement, or for a whole set. I have them in my case becasue I do not need full set replacements yet. They will get you by on their own merits, or until you can purchase or afford an upgrade. Having spare parts is a good thing. I like that they are stainless steel and nickel wound for playing other styles of fiddle like bluegrass and oldtime. I like having a ball end because I can either use that as a stopper, or take it off and hook it with just the loop, whatever is easier at the time.

Poor quality
The A string broke almost immediately, I hadn't even got it to full pitch, very disappointing

Nice strings, nice company.
Very affordable string replacement, especially if you're learning - sooner or later, "boink"! Anyway, this is an economical way to re-string and begin again. I believe they are as good quality as can be found, and also believe that the manufacturer intends this to be the case. It may be cheesy, but I especially liked the note card included in the package. "Hope there will be more chances to serve you a nice buyer." The translation may not be perfect, but somebody there wants me to be happy with the strings and I am. Mind you, they're not magic - I'm not any better at it. That's why my long-suffering family (including the dogs) advised me to pass on including an audible demonstration.

Fantastic intro to stranded steel core strings
I mostly use D'addario strings on my violin - they're a well-known brand and so their strings are a pretty good benchmark when trying out new strings from other manufacturers like Danchet Pricewise, this Danchet Academy Performance set of strings is about the same as D'addario's Prelude line - but the sound tonality and responsiveness are much better than what you can get from the solid steel core Prelude strings I don't think these sound as good as D'addario's Helicore stranded steel core strings, but those go for almost triple the price of these Danchet strings (for a full set, so apples to apples) -- meaning violinists who are thinking about using stranded steel core strings should give these Danchet strings a try before springing for stranded steel strings from better-known manufacturers
