I find that more than adequate to reach the center of most any cut of meat I cook. **Q: I want to brew green teas (160-200F water typically). Can anyone verify how quickly and accurately it works in this range? Thanks!** A: these thermometers will typically work up to about 400 F, so if you want to check the temperature of cooking oil for frying, you can do that. Thermapens do, double check the specs on this. **Q: can you calibrate this thermometer** A: No, and ours is reading +110° after a couple of years. **Q: It looks like a pocketknife.
