Devotion to the Sorrowful Mother

This wonderful little booklet has everything you need to know about the Seven Sorrows, the promises from Mary, and the actual devotion. This booklet also has black and white pictures to go with each sorrow. Every Catholic should consider this devotion. Here are Mary's promises: 1. “I will grant peace to their families.” 2. “They will be enlightened about the divine Mysteries.” 3. “I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.” 4. “I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.” 5. “I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.” 6. “I will visibly help them at the moment of their death—they will see the face of their mother.” 7. “I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy.” Promises of Jesus In The Glories of Mary, St. Alphonsus also lists the four promises Jesus made for those devoted to his Mother’s sorrows. Alphonsus recounts the revelation made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary “that after the assumption of the Blessed Virgin into heaven, St. John the Evangelist desired to see her again. The favor was granted him; his dear Mother appeared to him, and with her Jesus Christ also appeared; the St. then heard Mary ask her Son to grant some special grace to all those who are devoted to her dolors. Jesus promised her four principal ones: First, that those who before death invoke the Divine Mother in the name of her sorrows should obtain true repentance of all their sins. Second, that He would protect all who have this devotion in their tribulations, and that He would protect them especially at the hour of death. Third, that He would impress upon their minds the remembrance of His Passion, and that they should have their reward for it in heaven. Fourth, that He would commit such devout clients to the hands of Mary, with the power to dispose of them in whatever manner she might please, and to obtain for them all the graces she might desire.”

I got this and started saying the seven prayers to honor Mary’s seven sorrows( starts on page 38 to page 45. You have to be committed and say it everyday no matter what for the rest of your life. It takes about 10 minutes. I started because I had a lot of prayer intentions I needed answered, but also wanted to deepen my relationship with my heavenly Mother Mary. I didn’t get all my prayers answered immediately. But I have gotten so many of them answered and she continues to answer new intentions for me. Theses are real prayers that she is actually answering. I’m so thankful to her. And I continue to pray it everyday going on about a year and a half now, and will continue the rest of my life. There are so many promises that Mary makes to those who say it everyday. These promises are on page 34. Those alone are enough to make anyone say this devotional prayer. Her fifth promise is protection at every instant of our life. This prayer booklet is something that every catholic needs to have and devote themselves to. I am living proof that by doing this devotional prayer daily your prayers will be answered!

This book will is inspiring, very readable and guaranteed to give you a much deeper appreciation for the Blessed Mother.

I love the meditations that are written under each of the titles of the seven sorrows. They put you there with Her in her sorrowful journey from Her Son’s Passion, from His Birth up to His Burial. They made me ponder things that I hadn’t thought of before when I’ve read in the Gospels.

This booklet provides a great introduction to the devotion, followed by prayers and reflections for each Sorrow. Easy to follow and a fine way to pray and learn to appreciate the sufferings of Our Lady. Recommend.
