Question 1

I just purchased this product and it says 8 grams of carbs. But I cant see how this was factored in. All three of these sweeteners are sugar alcohols?

Accepted Answer

Even sugar alcohols can have carbs. Sugar alcohols are still a form of carbohydrates.

Question 2

can this be used like regular sweetner for coffee and tea?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all Splenda Sweeteners can be used to sweeten coffee and tea.

Question 3

How many net carbs? The labeling is confusing. Is this truly zero net carbs or 8 carbs as listed on the package?

Accepted Answer

I'm very angry about the Manufacturer's rude, evasive answer to your question! You were not asking about calories! You need to know the net carbs! I'm angry that the manufacturer does not have enough consideration and respect for their customers to include the net carb math on their package, like almost all keto friendly low carb foods do! I will call Customer Support about this tomorrow!

If you're counting net carbs, you can always subtract the fiber grams and sugar alcohols grams, including this product's erythritol and allulose grams from the total carbs. So this product has 0g net carbs. Why is the manufacturer afraid to plainly say that?!?!?

Carb Manager app lists Splenda Magic Baker as 0g net carbs.

"Erythritol is a type of sugar alcohol that the body cannot digest into glucose at all. To calculate the net carbs of a food containing erythritol, subtract the total amount from the total amount of carbs listed on the nutrition label." ~ Medical News Today

"Yes. In a one-teaspoon serving, allulose contains 4 grams of total carbs. Allulose net carbs clock in at 0 grams. Since the body does not absorb allulose carbs like those in regular sugar, they can be subtracted from the total carb count." ~ WholesumYum

The stevia extract has 0 carbs.

Yes, there are myths being promoted on social media about sugar alcohols that are patently false, which has made some people afraid to subtract sugar alcohols grams because they don't understand the science and they misinterpret the results when they test their ketones and blood sugar, which are always naturally fluctuating even when you're in ketosis. And after you've been on Keto long enough to become fat adapted, your ketones will test much lower or disappear, even though you're still in ketosis as much as ever, because the body uses them up very quickly.

Question 4

Regular Splenda is ok to use in canning, how is this baking formula for water bath or pressure canning?

Accepted Answer

Haven't tried to do canning.
