I wanted to try hypoallergenic surgical steel to avoid the pain and redness that usually comes with re-opening them. I ordered these. They arrived in a tiny ziplock inside a small recycled paper box, with a cleaning cloth and two spare flatbacks. I have a love/hate relationship with flatbacks because they are frustrating to put on but they are just so comfortable and stay put, I find it's worth the effort since I started using them. The flatbacks in this kit were easier to work with than others I have had. They have a slight divot which helps you get the post into them which I really appreciated. The assortment of studs was much prettier than I was expecting. There are different cuts and shapes to the CZ's, all have sparkle and two have a color rainbow effect which I loved. The "opals" look like real opals when you look at them closely. The hoops are tasteful and I didn't have any issues opening or closing them. I only have piercings in my lobes. While flatback posts are shorter than standard, they are the appropriate length for me. They don't droop or squeeze. On first wearing I put them in before bed and I woke up there was no redness, heat, swelling, or pain. They are nearly weightless. I'm very satisfied. I wore the earrings that were put in when I got my ears pierced for months before I switched them out. My left ear did not seem to really be healing. After wearing these earrings for months my ears are now completely healed. I think part of this is because I clean my ears each time I switch pairs, whereas before it was hard for me to routinely clean them. I do, however, believe that these earrings are somehow more hypoallergenic than the ones I had in. I do not find the screw-backs difficult. I have had no problems with the backs falling off. I do make sure to tighten them every day. At first I would switch them out every day or two but currently I have had a pair in for about a week and have had no problems with them falling off. I always noticed that holes 3 and 4 were more sensitive to jewelry and would often get very hot and red, especially when sleeping in them. But they would eventually calm down and it wasn't a problem. Well I just had a baby and for some reason, all four of my piercings were reacting horribly to my earrings I usually wear. I decided it was time to search for sensitive earrings. I put these earrings in and for the first time I felt no pain. I slept in them and there was no itchiness, redness, or crust that formed overnight on my ears. I am SO satisfied with my purchase.
