The light drains about 2 amps, so the AAA batteries which are rated at 1 AH, says the batteries might last less then a 1/2 an hour of use. So the momentary "on" action of the switch would be a big improvement. It does have about 120 lumens measured at 1 meter, and the head get warm very quickly.
