This game is way more fun than it should be.
Usually, playing games of this kind of vintage can feel slow and clunky, especially in this day and age. However, this is slick, plays really well and is a lot of fun to play. The golf side of it is very simple, which leads to it being a user friendly, pick-up-and-play game. Once you take your shot, you fight enemies while you travel to the ball to take your next shot. Insteas of putting, you get a boss fight, which do not drag on long, keeping the pace of the game moving along. As a concept, this shouldnt work, but as a game it's a solid 7.5, pushing 8 out of 10.

Ninja Golf Atari 7800+
Ninja Golf, stands as one of the most unconventional titles for the Atari 7800. It functions as a multi-genre hybrid, merging a sports simulation with side-scrolling action elements. While high-concept, the game is a notable example of late-cycle experimental software for the platform. The game follows a rigid three-phase loop across eight holes of increasing difficulty: • The Drive: Players use a standard overhead interface to select clubs and aim. A traditional power meter determines the distance and trajectory of the ball. • The Transition: Once the ball lands, the perspective shifts to a side-scrolling combat mode. The player must navigate the environment to reach the ball’s location, defending against various enemies—including rival ninjas and hostile wildlife—using melee kicks and limited projectiles. • The Green: Upon reaching the hole, the player enters a boss encounter. To complete the level, the player must defeat a stationary guardian, such as a dragon, using aimed projectiles before the final putt is registered. Technical Execution The graphics utilize the 7800’s palette effectively, though the animations in the combat sequences are somewhat stiff. The controls are functional but require precise timing during the transition phases. Despite its jarring premise, the game is mechanically sound, offering a unique challenge that demands proficiency in two disparate gaming styles. It remains a significant, albeit niche, entry in the Atari library

The game you didn't know you needed
I didn't know about this game until Evercade totally missed it as a child but I never had a 7800 or knew anyone that did Anyway you play as a ninja that is out enjoying a spot of golf, you hit the ball towards the green then as you chase after it the game becomes a 2d side scrolling fighter! It sounds bonkers but it's great fun trying to chase that high score Then if you make it to the green it's a first person show down with a dragon I was really pleased when this was announced for the 2800 plus definely worth the price and it's great to have physical games again hearing that satisfying clunk as the cart goes in takes me back

Old but new.
Great release for the 2600+. Nice retro release with accurate labelling and packaging, so much so you'd be hard put at first glance to tell it apart from an original release. The game itself is infamous in 7800 circles and is still a good play to this day, in honesty though there's a few more releases I'd rather have seen before this one.
