Good
my kids really enjoy trying to crack each secret code! It’s full of clever challenges and colorful illustrations that make learning fun. The only downside is that the copy I received was used and had some marks and writing inside, which was a bit disappointing.

Great resource
I love this book. I'm a Year 6 teacher (age 10-11) and was looking for some inspiration for an end of year escape room. These codes vary in difficulty and can be linked to a couple of different topics (WW2, Egyptians etc). The book contains a bit of background about each type of code as well as example for you to have a go at. There are spaces in the book for you to write in the answers if you wish to.

Good buy
Bought this to help make up codes my 10 year old grandson had to crack to find his Christmas gifts. Worked a treat. There’s Morse and Semaphore plus loads more and the answers are in the back to help. Great little book.

Young child needs help to start
Bought this for my goddaughter (6years old at the time). Since then she has done some of the puzzles with me. If kids haven’t done this type of thing before they may need a bit of guidance to think through the instructions and work oht how to start deciphering the code (some are easier than others). Once they’ve done one or 2 letters correctly you can leave them to finish the page. If she was older she would probably be able to do it totally by herself.

Spy codes for kids
Bought for my grandson whom I'm introducing to the sort of exciting thing I loved as a child. Will keep a child occupied and focussed and the child will learn from it, too.

Great book to have a work through
We have found this book to be great for coding ideas. Codes are now used all over the house!! Some of them are a little tricky and depending on the age of the user, may require some teamwork. Our child is 7 and with a little help, she has been able to quickly get a handle on maybe 30-40% of the codes. The layout is user friendly. The explanations are short and simple.

Great quality work colourful pages and backstories for every code, with each activity different. My child was so excited seeing this!

It was ok. The books were smaller than expected. The puzzles weren't engaging. It was challenging enough. For our kid though, it wasn't as fun as other similar books.

My son who is 8 loves this book, wants to buy it for all his friends and now writes all letters to his buddies in codes. Great quarantine activity!!

I use this book to motivate reluctant readers. Most of the codes and puzzles are quite solvable.
