Good tone, compared to similar icom external speaker. Might take a good twist of volume to get some sound out of it, but it's crisp and accurate. I have louder external speakers but those sound terrible up loud. Handheld units might not have the output to drive it like headphones. Works well on gmrs and amateur radio mobile transmitters. I have bad hearing, most mobile unit speakers are muffled. Effective solution at a fair price. It doesn't feel heavy duty but it sounds better than it might appear. I've bought several different styles of these looking for a better one. This is the best sounding one under $20. Again, a headphone jack might not drive this loudly, it is an external speaker.

Good Speaker in a Compact Size Anytone 666 sounds great

I use for an auxilliary speaker for my Cobra 29 CB. It is much easier to hear than the built in speaker, but it still has a bit of muffling and distortion. It is certainly a cheaper speaker inside the casing, but it works alright. If they went for a slightly better speaker to use, this would be a perfect 5 star piece. I'm very happy with it. I would still highly recommend this for the price. Cord seems fairly durable. Casing is very durable, I have beat mine up pretty roughly over the last several months of use, and it held up great. If the sound quality was a bit better, I'd happily give this 5 stars, but better sound quality is the main reason I bought it.

When I first came across this communications speaker I interpreted the phrase "7-watt" to mean there was a 7-watt amplifier built in. I was curious, though, because I could not find a description of how the amplifier was powered. All that was made crystal clear when I received the unit. There is no amplifier. The unit I had intended to connect this speaker to, a QRP Ham Radio Transceiver, barely delivers 0.1 watt of audio. Despite this, the Uniden BC-7 Communications Speaker performed quite admirably, delivering stronger audio than I have ever received before, including the use of headphones. And the stereo miniature phone plug feature was exactly what my transceiver required for a proper connection. Bottom Line: I'm quite satisfied. This is a great little speaker for a great little price.

Works for what I needed

Very cheaply made. I’m amazed that Uniden will put their name on this product! I bought one to use on my motorcycle to help hear my Uniden R4 radar detector. (Love it…the R4 is a great product) It worked fairly well but after a week on the bike, I noticed the plastic case was cracked. No idea how that happened. When I took it off the motorcycle, I noticed that the screws had become loose, and the entire thing was falling apart. I took a gamble and bought a second one, but the same thing happened. They are both in the garbage. I recommend you pick another brand.

Smaller than I expected. Sound is meh. I can live with it for now.

I always thought that using a cb with the back speaker sounded pretty bad. This little speaker is quite loud for it’s size and easy enough to install in the direction you want it to be. No more missed calls!
