Works for cutting leather with proper dies. Heavy and stable. Only complaint I have is; if you purchase dies with pins to cut stitching holes, this press does not push the leather down far enough to completely create the holes. I've found that I have to place scrap pieces of leather over the leather in the die (after punching it out) and drive it down over the stitching hole pins with a rawhide mallet to finish the process. While this is a bit of a PITA, it does make the process quite a bit easier and more accurate than cutting by hand. Sellers: don't offer bribes for up ratings. I will report you to Amazon. I rely on these ratings as I'm sure many do and I consider this behavior unacceptable. If you want to lose me as a customer - that's the way.

I come from a gasket cutting background. Starting a home based business and needed to cut sponge rubber. I choose this press because the force (3300 lbs) would be enough and long dies could be pushed through making part length a non issue. It comes packaged in a wooden box with cut out hand holds, nice. You'll have the tighten the bottom nuts and adjust the cutting height nuts. Make sure the handle pints away from you and the name on the bottom plate is facing you. Without the handle facing away the .47" clearance won't be achieved, meaning you might be limited to cutting only very thin material. I'm cutting .200 thick material without a problem and the handle (and my hand) doesn't hit a long die's steel rule. I attached the cutting board to the top plate using the (4) existing holes. A counter sink keeps everything flat. I'm cutting with the rule up and place material on the die which makes easier for me to see what's going on. This press will allow you to apply as much or little force as needed to make clean cuts. Our dies will thank you for this with longer life. Happy cutting...

Very heavy, I didn’t check the weight before I bought it. But works like a dream, very easy to use. Extremely sturdy and will last the test of time.

It worked great up until it bent at the bolt and bar. Im no strong guy infact im disabled so when this bent i was thoroughly shocked. It was just being used to emboss wet leather
