typecase Edge Magic-Style Magnetic Keyboard Case for iPad Air 13/Pro 12.9

Upon receiving my typecase I was very disappointed because I failed to realize that these types of cases did not allow for flat ipad usage. I take lots of notes with my apple pencil as a college student, and so I need to be able to use my ipad as a notebook, but also as a laptop since I don’t have one. I looked up the apple-branded magic keyboard case only to find that it had the same design flaw. Despite this, I kept the case and do not regret doing so. It is a bit pricey, but nothing compared to apple’s concoction. I think it is well worth it. I had a cheap case with a keyboard that was detachable that cost around 30 dollars, and none of the essential shortcuts or function keys worked, which was insanely frustrating. The trackpad was also absolutely terrible, so I went looking for a better, lighter, and cuter way of protecting my ipad while still having a keyboard and i stumbled upon this. The magnet is insanely strong- I struggle to pull the ipad off with just one hand, so there is no need to worry about it sliding off. Typing feels rewarding, all keys are functional and it comes with a handy manual of all available shortcuts. Not to mention, the case is very aesthetically pleasing. I bought it in pink and was delighted to find that the RGB lighting also had a light pink option compared to the typical hot pink. The trackpad was what really sold it for me- it is so smooth compared to the cheap 30, 40 dollar junk you get and does not frustrate you with skipping or freezing. It is also very stable, I’ve used it in my lap and on my bed with 0 problems. It also has a slip for your apple pencil, which is convenient, because sometimes you want to store it without having to attach it to your ipad and therefore draining your battery. Overall, an outstanding purchase I would recommend if you want something as good as the apple magic keyboard without the price tag.

I wasn't sure if a keyboard case would make a big difference, but now I can't imagine using my iPad without it. The typing experience is excellent, and the trackpad makes multitasking simple. The case itself is protective and well made. It feels like I turned my iPad into a full laptop setup.

I have used an older version of this case for a number of years, and my only complaint about it was the constant need to turn off the touchpad every time it woke up. More on that below. This case/keyboard is solid, and for some that means heavy. The weight helps stabilize the thing with an iPad attached, and the double-hinge design places the iPad weight a bit forward, which also helps stability. You probably won't poke this over backward. I mention that because I've had case/keyboards where the iPad leans back from the bottom and rests on a support that doesn't even come halfway up the iPad's back. And several times I lost control of the iPad and it crashed to the floor. That's why I was looking only at the double-hinge designs like this one. The keys have a nice feel, and the backlighting is fine (just like the older version). There is a forward-delete key above the backspace key, and for me that's a bit of a requirement, too. There are key combinations for many functions, and you get key-combo help on whatever app you're in. And, there are key combos for a selection of common Greek symbols, if you use those much. There is a little key-combo cheat sheet to the left of the trackpad, but I have to admit that it's too small and dim for my eyes. Also, the instruction booklet lists all of the key combos, but the print in the instruction book is too small for me to read unaided. That's common these days. Anyway, bottom line is that I like the keyboard in my required double-hinge configuration, and I'm happy with the purchase. Some people worry about the magnet strength. Make sure your iPad fits; mine's a 12.9 with no other case on its back. I will say that before you close the iPad down on the keyboard, you should push it back to its furthest reach. If you don't, it might knock the iPad loose from the magnetic back. It's not that the mags are weak, but it's the leverage you apply if there isn't sufficient room to close it down. Now let me carp a bit about the touchpad. I know some people live on the touchpad, but I'd prefer that it not be there at all. But every case/keyboard of this type [double-hinged] has a trackpad, and some of them have no way to disable it. Apparently, most people are not interested in disabling the trackpad as a feature, because in all the product descriptions and the glossy advert material it's never mentioned. So, I asked Amazon-world if it was possible. No users responded, but the manufacturer did! Yes, it can be disabled. It's now an fn- function, whereas before it was its own key in the right-option position. The rep even took a reply and responded a second time, so I was happy with that interaction. The trackpad does seem to recede when I'm typing even if I haven't disabled it. The disabling seems to last longer now, too. Note: AMAZON FEEDBACK: The first time I ordered this, the wrong product was sent. I simply returned it, saying it was not what I had ordered. I immediately ordered another, this time it was right. Love it, 5 stars. AMZ issued a refund for the first, but later informed me that they'd reverse the refund because I had not returned the correct item. They provided no means of communication, and the chat bot didn't understand. I gave up, so in effect I bought this item twice just to get one. I wish I knew what to do if Amazon delivers the wrong item. Just returning it doesn't work.

Although constrained by the size of the 11" iPad Air M3, the keyboard provides a robust typing experience that enhanced by the function key options and the trackpad. It is possible to manage the iPad with just the keyboard which increases the efficiency on projects that require or benefit from using a keyboard. Finger travel and tactile feedback are quite good. And even with large fingers, I find the keyboard comfortable to use. There seems to be little or no lag in the blue tooth connectivity. This means that using the keyboard is quick and responsive. Overall the fit and feel is almost as good as a standard keyboard. One of the reasons that I chose this keyboard case was the option to have a case color that complimented by preference for blue over the standard black or white. The blue of this case is very pleasing. Placement of the iPad Air is simple and easy. The magnetic hold of the iPad Air is very good but only allows for the horizontal placement of the iPad. Since that is the way I use the iPad Air most of the time, that is not an issue for me. I am still forming the habits to power up the keyboard for use and power down the keyboard after use. I also need to remember to secure the flap magnetically to the back so that it does not interfere with the screen visually. Speaking of the flap, the pencil/stylus holder secures the pencil/stylus which is an appreciated function. Even though I have only had the Edge Keyboard Case for a limited time, I am prepared to suggest that it is a cost effective option for a keyboard case that provides excellent function paired with aesthetically pleasing protection.

The case is easy to set and the keyboard responds nicely. It adds useful functionality without making the iPad difficult to use.

This is my second one of these cases for my iPad. The first one lasted 2 couple years but I am hard on them. You have to charge the case which is a pain because I had the apple Smart Keyboard originally but I also paid a high price for it. This is a good option for a much cheaper price. It does not bend as far back as the apple one but again……price! It was easy to pair, the keyboard feels good under my fingers and the cover provides good protection for my iPad.

I absolutely loooove this new case for my iPad. It fits perfectly and is easy to remove with the magnetic back. It has great quality and looks very well made. The case and keyboard are easy to clean and charges quickly. The typing feels great and the keys press easily. The case feels sturdy and I feel it gives good protection. Definitely recommended it and the price is worth the product you get.

Bought this for my brand new slim iPad about 7 months ago. My first time to use a keyboard with my ipad. This is a protective case which is one reason I bought it. I like the backlit keyboard but wish the keys were lit so I can see them while typing in dark areas. The backlight feature is neat as you can choose from several colors. The magnet works perfectly fine. So far no issues with it failing. It is pretty beefy magnet. Seems good ergonomically and so far no issues with typing other than the keys do not light up. It fits my ipad perfectly. I would not want to drop this unit. I do not know if it would survive a drop. iPad would but not the keyboard but I could be wrong. The thing I hate about it is that it is HEAVY. But I guess that is the compromise. The Bluetooth feature is kind of pain. It is not automatic. You have to push the connect button on the keyboard most likely to preserve the battery. I have used the keyboard all day without running out of juice. It does NOT charge your IPad. You have two cables. One for the keyboard and one for the IPad. It comes with ONE USB to c cable . I bought a special charging plug for it that has USB and C. If I had to buy again, I would find a lighter weight one with illuminated keyboard and automatic bluetooth. Other than that it is a good product for the price. One last thing, Seems that heat from the keyboard discolored the bottom of the keyboard. Not a big deal. It did not feel warm so I am not sure why it discolored right in the middle. Cant see it unless you flip it over.

Extremely satisfied. A great dupe for the Magic Keyboard. My iPad fits securely and the keyboard connects quickly (about 1-2seconds). I like the colourful backlighting. It’s like having a laptop!

Works seamlessly with my Gen 4 12.9” iPad Pro. Love the key board lights and the connectivity . It’s a bit heavier than my original Apple key pad . It’s okay though. …..

I have only used the keyboard for about a week now but I am very pleased with it so far. It is miles ahead of the Apple keyboard it replaced for 1/3 the cost. It is more functional than the Apple keyboard and the backlight feature works great. It has a functional keyboard”esc” key and several other great features lacking in the overpriced Apple keyboard. If this keyboard only lasts a year, I will be financially ahead from replacing the failed Apple keyboard with another Apple. The Apple Pro iPad is great (and it should be for the price)but the supporting keyboard is a wildly overpriced joke. I have now replaced two Apple keyboards on two different iPads with aftermarket keyboards which were both superior. I will never buy another Apple keyboard.

for the price, it’s a really good keyboard and is a good option when u aren’t wanting to pay for the apple one. the track pad is the slightest bit laggy and its click and be a little finicky, the sides of the case have frayed a bit but i’ve been using mine for a good while now so honestly nothing that bad for the price u are getting it for and it does look nice
