Using for chemo help prevent hair loss
Update 3: Completed 4/4 AC. I did have a shed three weeks after completing chemo it seemed like it was the biggest shed overall. That may have been because it was December and I was wearing a wool beanie most of the time. I am grateful I kept up with cold capping because I never went bald. Update 2: completed 12 rounds of taxol and kept most of my hair. Used dry ice to cool 6 caps and change caps every 10-13 minutes. I also started capping one hour before treatment (during premeds) and continued capping for five hours afterwards. Now I’ve had 2 out of 4 rounds of AC and my hair is thinning on the crown and sides. It is easy to coverup with a hat or headband. Will try to update after I finish AC. Update 1: I have had 5 rounds of chemotherapy so far. I have used these caps for the past four treatments and have had minimal hair loss. I am following the same instructions as I did with the rental cold caps. I still have a long road ahead and will try to update again. Original Review After I tried using caps from a rental company, it was not a great experience with the caps and decided to purchase my own. I have only had two rounds of chemo so far. Yesterday was the first time wearing these caps. They are so much more comfortable to wear but I did change them out more frequently than the rentals, which didn’t seem to make a difference. I will try to provide an update about my hair as my journey continues.

Good fit, good price, and freezing cold!
The item does only stay cold for 20ish minutes, but it fits well, offers excellent coverage, and is a third the price of the IceKap. Buy 3-4, keep them in a little ice chest buried in ice, and switch them out as needed during chemo. The IceKap also had a big area with no ice pack coverage in the ponytail area and didn't stay cold any longer than this item.

Awesome product for hair during chemo but please improve by shipping batches in robust boxes
I bought these as a cheaper but still quality alternative for doing cold capping for chemo. Tldr; while I didn't get the product in the mail fast enough for my first chemo round and to NOT lose my hair (packaging NEEDS to change), once received the product helped my scalp health enough to grow my hair back while I'm still doing the chemo that lost it. My oncologist is impressed. Pics are after 13 weeks. BUY EARLY. WATCH SHIPPING LIKE A HAWK: The biggest warning for buyers is to get the caps before you start chemo early enough for a reorder and don't delay. Because my package was massively delayed and never came in I just waited to call like they ask you to, but my problem is once I called it was past the delivery time frame to get a reshipment even on an expedited basis ( although I had one of my calls tell me it wasn't, but it was). So order early, and if delayed call BEFORE the cut off for getting a reshipment so you can order again. I think the problem is that when orders are fulfilled for multiple hats, they place them in a bag still for delivery and not a solid box. The hats flop around in the bag and the bag catches on something, rips and the product gets lost. I know this because the second delivery (the first I never received) had tons of plastic tape wrapped around it after a big rip. Luckily no product was lost on second delivery, but it was a near thing. The packaging for multiple hat deliveries NEEDS. TO. CHANGE. It should be in a more secure box! I told the Amazon customer service manager I buy these to NOT look like Jeff Bezos. No offence to him, he does rock his bald head. SIZING: The product itself is superb. Just make sure you buy the right size. If you need frozen booties or gloves too, you can get a single hat in a pack as well, so that can be a good way to verify your size with an order of 1 as well. My batch order somehow ended up one size up, they still functioned ok for me but it flopped down into my eyes. Even with it lower on my head, I have still lost my eyebrows. :) YOUR KIT: * A buddy/helper to do switches if you are too tired, and/or iced up on hands and feet and especially if the cooler can't be in the same room for space restrictions * 1 larger rolling cooler (save your back!!!) * 3-4 bags of ice (we kept putting the ice back in the bags they came in after each use and reused as much as we could to save on money) * Nitrile gardening gloves for your helper to be comfy rooting through the icy cooler * Large easy open/close ziplock bags * Small cheap spray bottle for water * Gentle, good quality conditioner * Amazon basics heated blanket * Bag to carry non cooler things * a hammer - when reusing ice you may need to break it apart if it got melty before refreezing. Bonus frustration release moment because you're going to another chemo. :) OUR METHOD: 1) I bought 6 hats to rotate every 13 minutes or sooner, we rotating back to the first hat it was generally cool 2) freeze in bags the night before chemo in freezer 3) Hour before leaving, layer the hats and/or other freezing packs in the ice in the cooler 4) Put the first hat on 15 min before - spray water on roots, apply conditioner to roots - the goal here is to increase conductivity of the cold. 6) Check in and get to chemo 7) Bundle up the rest of your body in the cozy electric blanket. 8) Have your helper rebag and switch the hats up every 13 minutes or, if they start to feel too warm. Check that the hair is still damp/moist and if not reapply water/conditioner. 9) Helper needs to bag and put the last hat back in the cooler to refreeze. TIPS/NOTES: * Bag the hats inside out, it refreezes the inside of the hat more effectively where it contacts your scalp. * Another review did 10 min and 8 hats, it worked for me for 13 and 6, but I found that was pushing it. They can get warm. * The hats are easy to walk around in and comfortable. * You need to check that your skin/short hair hasn't gotten dry and respray if you only used water (which I did when my hair was only a buzz cut). * The hat freezing material was similar to the older elastoplast gloves provided by my hospital. Not as thick, but very effective. * Not having the right size of hat was only slightly annoying, but I do have a thin spot up top where the sections join. Likely from my slightly too large size. Small fit good and I'm 21 1/4" Medium was a bit big and rested on my ears. I would order smaller if you're borderline and not sure, the hats can stretch a bit. * The Amazon basics blanket was godsend to keep me warm when all my extremities were freezing, highly recommend getting it too. * For my treatment, I put the first hat on 15 minutes before and left on for 15 minutes after. * It didn't save my eybrows/eyelashes. COST: My overall cost was under 500 for everything: I got a good price on the hats, a rolling cooler off Craigslist, 5 hats here, 1 from the kit, 4 bags of ice periodically refreshed, cheap nitrile gloves and spray bottle. The amazon basics electric blanket was a gift. PRODUCT EVAL: The product was comfortable, amazing and was an easy slip on and slip off, I tried the other hat that has 6 gel packs, bulky, and it didn't work( lost my hair) and was challenging to put on and off stuffing gel packs in. By comparison, this had thin material that conducted the cold way better, similar to hospital provided materials, just not as thick, and no individual gel pack prep. The freezing material was better than the liquid gel packs too. CONCLUSION: I had great success with this product going through my chemo and will keep and continue to use it for any future chemos. I can't tell you it will save your hair from your first dose, but my oncologist is quite complementary of the hair I have growing back and that in her experience it's unusual to have this much grown back while still undergoing my chemo. She even encouraged me to write this review. The nurses were surprised at my chemo today as well. Best of health and luck in your treatment!

You will need two.
This cap really works!! I am a caregiver for my sister. She's had 12 weekly Treatements of Carboplatin, and Paclitaxel. She still has her hair, though it’s thinned. During treatment we cycle two caps, one in the ice chest in between two pieces of dry ice, the other on the head. Rotate every 15 mins. Be sure to have a Hair cap on before wearing cold cooling pad. We also rotate the gloves and boots every 30.

Good but gel eventually leaks
I had a TBI a few years ago and still suffer headaches from it. This cap works great for relieving the headaches. I bought 4 of them to have at home and work. Unfortunately I can’t give it 5 stars because after a while, the gel starts to leak out of the cap and it is. Not longer usable. I have had to throw 2 away.

Very comforting
I have an autoimmune disorder and often suffer from my scalp burning and feeling very hot. I keep this cold cap in my freezer for when that happens. I’ve had it for years already and it’s just as good today as it was four years ago. This product is well made, comfortable and worth the price.
