I keep it for emergencies, like a dog fight, or if my dog won't drop something that might be harmful. My dog is trained well and this is not a training enhancer for me. My dog trainer showed me how to use this device, and said to use it sparingly or the dog gets used to it. Once I saw the dog trainer use it as follows: at the dog park, one dog wouldn't give up the other dog's toy, and the owners wanted to leave. The dogs were nose to nose. The dog trainer quietly removed the device from his pocked, kept it hidden in his hand, and gave one spray of air. The two surprised dogs looked up, and when the one dropped the toy the dog trainer grabbed it and handed it to the owners. "How did you do that?" they asked! He didn't say but just smiled. My rottweiler was aggressive but only on leash. I used this twice with the "No" command and the behavior stopped. The was over 8 yrs ago and now I can walk her anywhere with no issues. I recently acquired a new healer/malinois mix barked at everything 3 times of using this it stopped. Now I have a peaceful house and the girls are very respectful of their boundaries. There have been times when I have needed it and didn't have it on me but I can just make the nosie and wallah respect is there.
