Son of God

Although this movie was based on "The Bible" miniseries that came out earlier and it has some of the same footage as that miniseries, it is nonetheless very well done, IMO. Very nice to see a modern film about Jesus - one that wasn't done in the 1950s. The acting in this movie was well done, and in particular the actor who played Jesus did an outstanding job. Whether the actor's skin was the same color as the skin of Jesus is irrelevant, even though some people may try to argue otherwise. If you read "the Book" first, you know the plot of the movie -- haha -- but it's one that is of the utmost importance to all mankind. The movie will be very well received by Christians, I think, and is great for Evangelization. At times this movie is very gripping and awe-inspiring. The best part about it is that it represents real events, and a real Son of God who is alive today and calls us to follow Him. People who think it is okay to be spiritual, but not religious, or that it's okay to follow tenets of various religions but to disregard Jesus' teachings, should keep in mind what Jesus said in John 14:6 -- "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me."

I disliked nothing. The actor that played Jesus, Diogo Morgado, was incredible. I love the movie; I love what it inspired within me. Between The Bible and the Son of God, my faith and belief has increased as these two movies were more realistic than earlier presentations of the Bible. I could associate what occurred in Jesus' life as though it were yesterday as the portrayal of human beings was very truthful. It's one thing to watch how incredible the leaders of the Bible were but it's another thing to be able to relate those leaders, i.e., Moses, Joshua, Abraham, the 12 Apostles, as human beings who sin as all of us do. To be able to relate to how others treated the Apostles is unbelievable. The positiveness of Peter was unreal. I will be watching these two DVDs many, many times as they guide me greatly.

Faithful for most part to scripture. Actors, particularly Jesus are beyond touching, moving and powerful in their moments. You will love it. A good teaching film regarding our teacher, savior, Son of God.

Roma Downey has done her usual expert retelling of biblical narratives. In addition to this DVD she has produced a complete retelling of the bible from the creation, through the great flood, the Babylonian Captivity, the Nativity of Jesus, His development into manhood and his ultimate Crucifixion and Resurrection. Diogado Morgado is excellent as Jesus and Greg Hicks is outstanding as Pontius Pilate. The DVD ends with St. John, still exiled on the Island of Patmos, has a final encounter with the Risen Christ as the movie comes to and end. Going beyond that, Disk 4 of the biblical epic also produced by Roma takes us after the resurrection, through the feast of Pentecost, the emergence of St. Paul as the ultimate nemesis for Christianity until he was thrown from a horse and had a face-to-face encounter with the resurrected Jesus. Other biblical narratives in the same time frame are excellently and professionally presented by Roma Downey and her international retinue of actors and support personnel. Everyone who has spent time reading the bible, Old and New Testaments should not only watch this DVD by the entire four-disk biblical epic. Can't do better than that, except reading the "real thing." This movie had me in tears. A few parts not sure how accurate it was but 90% was just wonderful. This actor really portrays the warm, loving yet firm Jesus. Had to buy a few copies.

Probably the best movie made about the life and teachings of Jesus

Good movie but some details are not entirely accurate if we refer to the Bible itself. Some interpretation here, which may lead to a whole different objective from the Bible's. On the other hand, this movie would have received 5 stars from me if it wasn't for the unfairness of having watched Mel Gibson's version of Jesus' Passion. It's hard to surprise me after The Passion. On the other hand, Son of God provides a final that closes the whole story and leaves a clear message that coincides with the whole purpose of Jesus having come to life on a human form. Where the Passion drops the ball, giving a weak ending with the already expected resurrection, Son of God takes it a bit further and closes with the ultimate objective for Christians worldwide.

The Film is brilliant but I gave it 1 star because the DVD is the wrong region it's not for Europeans only Americans can watch the actual DVD and the seller did not clarify this!
