Hello,

Please be advised that this item and the ACR ResQflare, or any flare in general are very different items. This item is simply a PFD light. It is a small handheld light that's waterproof and is only intended to illuminate a small area around you when activated. It is also meant to clip or strap onto a life vest.

The flare is a much different item. Specifically the ACR ResQflare is an electronic flare that's meant to be a signal in distress when activated. It can either remain on the vessel or float in the water including the ability to right itself in rough seas. This electronic flare takes C-batteries and is USCG certified, replacing pyrotechnic flares. When activated, it is visible for 6 nautical miles.

It's waterproof, but it won't float since this is supposed to be mounted on your life jacket.
