Holy Bible: King James Version (Leatherbound)

Absolutely gorgeous.

This is easily the most beautiful book I own. The image doesn't really do it justice. The dark, deep, blue leather goes perfectly with the incredibly ornate golden designs on the front and back. These designs really pop in person. The pages are edged in a deep gold and it has a satin pagemarker. This edition also contains, I believe, all 241 of Gustave Dore's incredible biblical plate illustrations that could stand on their own. If you are searching for a Bible that attempts to respect the contents within by quality of appearance and construction, you can't go wrong with this one from Barnes and Noble.

I have a 19th c. copy of some of Dore's illustrations for the bible, but it has only brief summaries of the subject matter of each and only 100 illustrations. Many editions up to the present day are reprints of only those 100 illustrations. But this edition has 213 and includes the entire texts of the New and Old Testaments. The edges of the pages are gilt. There are over 1300 pages. The leather binding is beautifully and colorfully embossed on all three sides. The illustrations are smaller but crisper than my old version. This is not the supple soft cover black leather copy of my youth, which had beautiful color illustrations, But Dore's woodcuts are unequalled in their dramatic portrayals among Bible illustrations. There also is an interesting short preface examining three early English translations (including the KJ).

Definitely an heirloom to be handed down to family members over and over. Beautiful cover and the text is easily readable. Great purchase. Don’t forget to have it blessed! ❤️

I've recently started collecting the leatherbound classic books..And when I came across this bible (my favorite version of the bible, by the way.) I was ecstatic and just had to have it! I didn't realize how thick it actually was until I had received it. I have been meaning to pick up a KJV for a long time..just never found one that seemed to look how I envisioned it..but now I feel like this was the reason I waited so long. I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. And I just so happen to come across this while going through a very hard time right now. The book came packaged well and undamaged. And came sooner than expected. Very satisfied with this purchase and well worth every penny! And it's a wonderful add to my growing collection of leatherbound books.♡♡♡

Beautiful family Bible I will pass down to my son

Praise God !! this is the most beautiful bible i have ever seen . the english is also the most accurate . the time of disposal was beforehand so hats off to amazon . but there is just one thing .. the illustrations or pictures of d'vore in the bible are not accurate . they appear a little saddistic .. a little satanic . search on the man and you will find about him . rest everything is excellent . it has become a treasure for me :)

Took a while was fearful it wouldn’t arrive but it did ... and its really a great peice to own if your a fan of Doré’s work its a must have....
