Landscape Edging - 10" inch Depth - (80 feet)

We have Bermuda grass all over our yard! The worse part is it creeps into my flower gardens. We have tried for years to dig it out, you think you have it all, it in a couple,of months it’s back. I researched ways to keep Bermuda grass out of gardened and came across this product. A group out of Texas tested this product for 5years and they had very good results using this with minimal reoccurrence of Bermuda grass in the garden. That was enough for me. I tried it in one of my gardens and it worked great. This year I got more to do another garden. The heavy plastic is 10-12” long, long enough to deter the rhizomes of the Bermuda grass from creeping in like it does with regular landscaping borders. It does take some effort to put it in, but once you get the hang of it it goes quick. There are no spikes to deal with, just dig a trench 10” down and fill it back in.

Had this gap under the fence that was being used by Iguana's to get into my yard - not anymore! This product worked great but does require some patience to install. Here's some tips i learned: Need to flatten - product comes in a roll and will be a pain to cut since it wont lay flat at first. A few minutes laid out in Florida sun, flattened this out real quick - note this can also get real hot to the touch if left to long. - Install it warm - this is plastic, so install was so much easier if the product was warm then when cold. more flexible and easier to cut. - To cut I used a sharp utility knife - no scissors. I cut it similar to drywall; I scored/cut it with a knife and then gently bent it, till it snaps. It snapped clean for me and found also you can just cut it through with knife works as well, Scissors, tin snips didn't give a clean cut line - due to the thinness of product. - SHARP - the finished edges are rounded and safe but the edges you cut can be very sharp - could be the way I was cutting it but aware. - To fasten - I just used a strong staple gun and stapled it to the fence, and insured a min 3 inches was buried in soil This product worked great, looks great and will be there long time. I am quit happy with it.

Was a lot of work to trench and install, but helped for a while. 7years+ later and the exotic tall grass I was trying to block has worked itself under the barrier 8( Maybe a barrier double the depth would have worked... Not this one's fault just under estimated the weed grass I am fighting with 8P

I can promise you that no weeds will go through this heavy duty material. Maybe over or under but never through. With that said, it's 10". You should probably go grab a tape measure now and visualize that measurement. That means some deep digging for 50 feet in our case to get this thing set into position. We used an edger and spade shovel to create a slit in the outter edge of our work area and a rubber mallet to tamp it down. The nature of this product is hard to install but that's no fault of the product. The product is fairly easy to work with. It might seem a little wavy at first but once you back fill and tamp the dirt down it straightens right up. We used ours a little differently. We are prepping an area in the photo for a 16ft stone paver patio on ground that is unlevel by as much as 6 inches from one side to the other. Installing this product and leveling it with string lines allows us to have a template to level the land around and inside the barrier. Otherwise, our pavers and base would be overlyexposed above ground. The work is not nearly finished in the photo but in our application the material is buried 9 inches in some places and little as 3 inches in other places so that the top of the ring is level all the way around. Then we will add fill inside and out using this material as a guide to transform the terrain around it. Doesn't hurt that we also added some root protection in an area very prone for invasion.

This is sold to be 1/10” or 2.5 mm thick and according to my caliper it is. I am circling palm tree root balls on a 5’ to 10’ radius, I have to cut through roots when I make the slot with my flat shovel that I sharpened to a knife edge. Having a thick barrier is necessary so it can withstand my mallet blows to push it into the ground past the cut roots. When I bang the barrier down into the ground into my pre-done slit, (cannot dig a trench due to all the roots) I use a 10” long sch 40 1/2” pipe that I slit with my circle saw so that it fits on top of the barrier. I can then use more mallet force without bending the barrier but even with this “tool” the maximum force I can apply before the barrier starts to buckle, is often not enough so I might have to stop with only 5” or 6” in the ground instead of my target 7”. I like the fact that the barrier is made from 100% recycled plastic but can you also please offer a barrier that is 3/16” (4.7 mm) thick? The other cheaper brand Vevor is also said to be 1/10” (2.5 mm) thick but that one only measures 2.1 to 2.2 mm thick (you get less because you pay less!) so I cannot use it around palm trees, only in soft root free soil. First off, this is the only product I have found that has kept grass from growing into my garden while holding the soil and mulch in the garden back. Will this take more work than installing the cheaper stuff? Certainly. Did I still have to remove grass from my garden every year with shorter edging installed? You bet I did. The extra work and expense short term has paid off huge dividends long term (so much so that this is my second order, replacing some older edging in my front yard after installing this across my large flower bed out back. A trenching shovel is a must have to dig the necessary depth in my opinion, and I used a good pair of metal snips to cut to go around sprinkler hoses. Again, a lot of work, but so much better than having to de-grass flower beds every year.

Great product. It is a little pricey, although the quality is fantastic. It is strong, sturdy, and yet easy to cut if needed. I am using it to stop the roots of neighbor plants from growing into my grass. Since plants donot have too deep roots, this product seems it will work perfectly. The company is great also. After I ordered the product and arrived, I received a message with instructions on how to use it, as well as availability to answer whatever questions or doubts I had. Highly recommend both the company and the product. I have mot received any incentive to leave this comment. It comes out of truth and honesty.

Plastic edging is bogus. Intuitively, you know this. Still, you persist, emboldened by dubious reviews claiming the stuff is awesome, coerced by its significantly lower cost compared with stone, block, or steel edging materials. Grass Barrier 10" Landscape Edging is plastic. At ~$2 a linear foot, it's expensive plastic. Edging must do just two things: Delineate and isolate. This product is awful at the former, though likely ok at the latter. Grass Barrier plastic edging is made of non-reinforced material, so it never holds a tight line along a straight run or a swept curve. The stuff will warp in direct sunlight; it will not resist ground movement, bumps by a lawnmower, or the clumsy foot; it will damage easily with repeated contact from edgers and trimmers. No matter how carefully you set it into the earth, this edging will naturally form itself into a sinuous meander. If this aethetic appeals to you, Grass Barrier 10" Landscape Edging is your product! Grass Barrier10" Landscape Edging offers just three qualities: 1) It costs significantly costs less than steel edging; 2) It's an ample barrier at 10"; and, 3) It cuts easily. If you're cheap and/or on a budget and/or have no eye for aesthetic quality, Grass Barrier 10" Landscape Edging product is worth a try. It is certainly less expensive than stone, block, or steel--each of which will be superior to this (or any) plastic landscape edging. Don't waste your time: Install the correct stuff and leave Grass Barrier 10" Landscape Edging, and all plastic edging products, on the shelf.

Followed the instructions, as good as expected.

This is a great product. I have used so many shorter edging products but various grasses always get under it and come up the other side. With the 10" depth of this edging nothing has grown under it. Highly recommended if you really want to stop aggressive grasses from getting unto your beds.
