The pedal is high quality with a good variety of sounds, to make it easier to use I've velcro'd a block of wood to the front of the unit to lift my foot to the same level as the pad and that works fine. It's not as easy as it looks to use while playing guitar but that's down to me, not the pedal. It would have been better if it shipped with a power supply but I have another boss one which works fine. Sorry, hope you sort it. **Q: Could you use it with a bass drum pedal?** A: We have successfully used several different methods of striking the pad on this pedal including: hand, foot, drum stick, soft drum mallet so I don't see why you can't use a drum pedal. I am no expert on these matters but I would have thought the main limitation will be making sure you can secure the drum pedal in a suitable fixed position on a stand to enable you to use drum pedal conveniently and repetitively. **Q: I've read some people have had issues with this slipping on a wood floor – is that easy to solve by adding rubber pads underneath or something?** A: Yes.....slipping on a wood floor or carpet can be a real issue..... After much experimentation I now loop string around the pedal to a chair/stool leg. Years ago I had an SPD-11: this is so much more flexible and usable. Crucially, the pads are excellent. The RH control panel is powerful and intuitive with some great features (i.e. the ability to copy settings on a pad-by-pad basis from existing kits into a new kit). There is real-time control of many parameters. The sounds are generic Roland fare - not really my cup of tea but professional sounding with convincing layering and decent effects. The phrase looping function would be great for live use and is very straightforward to use.
