An extremely well designed and built unit. Very easy to install and set up. Took me a long time to decide on which unit to buy, but I made the right choice and it's made looking after my chickens a lot easier.

British company,British designed, British manufactured in Cambridge. This extreme version is quality,it will give us value for money,for a long time. There is a 3 guarantee,a company is only as good as its promise to keep there warranty promise and I'm sure chickenguard will keep there word. I've rang them for a little information about the setup when I first set it up and they are a delight to speak too and have knowledge of there product. Top class company by the looks of it.

I don't normally leave one-star reviews - I might return something if the value is worth the hassle but otherwise I just move on. But I am going to make an exception for this piece of under-developed trash due to the amount of time I have wasted trying just to make it work. Bear in mind that installing this involves being on your hands and knees in a cold wet garden. Ordered based on some of the more positive reviews (are they even genuine?) and fitted to the outside of my chicken house having made it ready, fitted the seal, and set the clock. Next step - calibrate the door - set the "open" position - then I try to move to set the closed position and it just won't move the door. Much re-trying, re-reading the instructions, looking at the videos. Nothing. To Customer Services - they admit there is a firmware error effecting all the Amazon stock. Why didn't they recall it ? Apparently they expect customers to enter the "hidden" menu and re-calibrate the firmware. So - deep breath, remove the unit, follow the detailed instructions, refit the unit, and - nothing - just the same as before - still doesn't work. Back to Customer Services - they ask me to return the item and order direct from them. More profitable too isn't it ?! I told them that after this issue I expected a significant discount. At this point Martin H from their sales department calls me and after a chat offers me a unit FoC. I ask him to make sure that the unit is properly tested before dispatch. He assures me it will be. When this doesn't arrive I call up to discover that he's forgotten! No, really - and it gets better ! So another unit is dispatched which arrives while I'm away travelling and which I have just tried to fit today. Same deal - ready the unit - fit the seal and set the clock. Outside to fix the unit. Door calibration. Door open position, sets the calibration. Door closed position - this time it appears to work. Message from the unit "door will now fully open" - door opens then unit shows "door calibration error". There is no strain here - the door is free to move - it has opened and then failed. Back to the calibration wizard to try again and the unit is completely unresponsive. They sent me this unit FoC and I wish they hadn't bothered. Supposedly tested before it left the factory and it fails even to set up properly. I don't know if this product will ever be fit for purpose but it certainly isn't now. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Always felt guilty sleeping in knowing the chickens were desperate to get out at 5am in the summer & remembering every night (ESPECIALLY in the cold dark winters) going out & closing the coop... BUT this simple, effective, well built machine has changed all that & works on light sensor or preprogrammed times! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said or thought ‘thank god for the chicken guard’ I have mine set to ‘sensor’ so as the times change (sunset/sunrise increase or decrease) it opens & closes according

The Extreme Automatic Chicken Coop Door Opener is well made/designed and easy to fit and get going. I think most users would (certainly to begin with) simply want the door to open at dawn and close at dusk, which means you have to buy the Premium or Extreme model. There are a number of advanced modes. Options like 'if not shut via light sensor by a certain time then shut anyway' may not be of much use as you could easily lock out your stock. I do like the fact you have the option to read the current lux value and set the door to operate exactly at that light level. Unless you need heavy door lifting feature of this version, the Premium model is enough. Also, the VSB range (which I also have used effectively) simply do the job at 2/3rds this price and the basic model has the light sensor.

I love my chooks but on a cold wet February morning I have to search deep in my soul to find it...but thanks to this fantastic gadget it's a 24/7 lovefest down at the coop! My laydeez and their noisy geezer can get on down (the ramp) and do their thang while I snooze beneath the duvet. In the evening there's no more panic about getting home in time to shut them in; the sensor adjusts with the seasons. It's really liberating. Wish I had bought it earlier! 🐣

Easy to install, works well. However it’s says on Amazon product details it came with batteries included, it did not. Contacted them through Amazon, no reply whatsoever. I’ve also contacted them directly about another issue relating to something else, not a complaint but operational advice. Again, just ignored.

I really like these, I've had other makes, but this one has very simple set up, it is reliable, and the override buttons are easy to use. We have house sitters, and they have broken the other makes. It is expensive, but not having to replace them makes them a set up and forget option.

Ho visto altre centraline (autocostruite e in commercio) e non c'è paragone; questo articolo è davvero robusto e solido. L'apparecchio è davvero plug and play, basta inserire le batterie (in dotazione), avvitare al pollaio (viti incluse) settare l' apertura (semplicità assoluta). Il prezzo è elevato, ma davvero ottimo. Ho la versione extreme che a diferenza delle altre può sollevere fino a 4kg e lavorare al freddo. Occhio che la versione extreme, come la premium, ha il sensore crepuscolare mentre la standard no ce l'ha. Per ora funziona regolarmente da qualche giorno.

I wanted to get door openers so I did not have to get up early in the morning to let my poultry out of their coops but could not find a door that stated they worked in very cold weather. I finally decided that the ChickenGuard Extreme was my best option even though they only indicated good to -10 Deg.C. I purchased and installed two openers one on my chicken coop and one on my turkey coop (4 lb. door). They have been installed for a couple of months now using the batteries that came with the doors. The doors have worked flawlessly even this morning with -33 Deg.C (27.4 Deg.F) temperature. I'm amazed that these door openers are still working on batteries after four days of these temperatures. Very impressed. I plan to install the USB external power soon which should be even better but so far no complaints with the batteries. Installation was a breeze for both doors and I had no issues with door calibrations or programming. I use the timer for opening the doors in the morning and manual closing the doors at night. They have only been installed for couple of months now so can not comment on longevity but they have exceeded my expectations to date.

I've used this for about 7 years and it was worked great, and is still operational. I just bought a second door (the One in All) for my new coop.

Installé pour ouverture et fermeture de porte d’entrée et sortie de mes poules.Horaires réglés en fonction du lever et coucher de ces dernières, en fonction des horaires solaires . Je recommande le service après vente formidable. J’ai eu un premier portier il y a plus de 3 ans , le moteur tombé en panne après la garantie . Je rachète un autre portier identique, et en profite pour parler du premier en panne , j’ai reçu pour un prix très raisonnable un moteur neuf que j’ai installé moi-même ( femme de 80 ans )vidéo envoyé par fournisseur .Facile a installer et programmé. Aucun problème avec le premier pendant ces plus de 3 ans , maintenant il a un moteur neuf .
