I was having a problem with a cloud of newborn flies emerging every time I opened that trash can. It was horrifying. My yard was constantly full of flies, I was spending a lot of money on those fly trap bags but still couldn't get in front of the problem. I put this boric acid powder in an empty spice shaker on a shelf beside the trash can. Every time I put poop in the can I sprinkle a fine powder over the newest layer. After about a week, zero live flies were in the poop container. I was just hoping for a reduction, but this has been so effective that it completely kills them all. The result is that now I have hardly any flies in the yard laying eggs either. So I have reduced the fly population on my property to almost nothing.
