AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER From Wharton professor and author of the popular One Useful Thing Substack newsletter Ethan Mollick comes the definitive playbook for working, learning, and living in the new age of AI Something new entered our world in November 2022 — the first general purpose AI that could pass for a human and do the kinds of creative, innovative work that only humans could do previously. Wharton professor Ethan Mollick immediately understood what ChatGPT meant: after millions of years on our own, humans had developed a kind of co-intelligence that could augment, or even replace, human thinking. Through his writing, speaking, and teaching, Mollick has become one of the most prominent and provocative explainers of AI, focusing on the practical aspects of how these new tools for thought can transform our world. In Co-Intelligence , Mollick urges us to engage with AI as co-worker, co-teacher, and coach. He assesses its profound impact on business and education, using dozens of real-time examples of AI in action. Co-Intelligence shows what it means to think and work together with smart machines, and why it's imperative that we master that skill. Mollick challenges us to utilize AI's enormous power without losing our identity, to learn from it without being misled, and to harness its gifts to create a better human future. Wide ranging, hugely thought-provoking, optimistic, and lucid, Co-Intelligence reveals the promise and power of this new era. Review: Fantastic and Approachable Guide to AI - An absolute must-read for anyone wanting to truly understand how artificial intelligence works and how to navigate it practically. Ethan Mollick breaks complex concepts down into clear, highly approachable insights without getting bogged down in jargon. Essential reading for professionals looking to leverage AI effectively. Review: Excellent for understanding AI - I recommend this book to everybody who I speak with about using artificial intelligence. The book describes how artificial intelligence works without getting into technical details. It helps a person understand how AI is very different from a web search. It also gets into topics like questioning if AI has feelings like a human. The format makes it easy to read or to listen to a narration. The author is a thought leader in the use of artificial intelligence. I recommend that you follow him on social media to stay current on the rapidly changing world of artificial intelligence.

Approachable, Interesting and actually useful.
Such an interesting and approachable look at AI and how we can actually use it in our everyday lives and work. I really appreciated that this didn't feel like a technical book about AI—it was much more about learning how to work *with* it, while still understanding its limitations. It gave me a lot to think about when it comes to how quickly AI is changing the way we learn, create, and work, without feeling overly dramatic or like it was trying to predict the end of the world. Informative, easy to follow, and genuinely useful. Definitely a good read if you're curious about AI but don't want something overly technical.

Insightful and Practical Guide to Our AI Future
This book offers a refreshingly balanced and thoughtful perspective on how AI will reshape our personal and professional lives without falling into either dystopian fear-mongering or blind techno-optimism. The author does an excellent job explaining complex AI concepts in accessible language while providing practical frameworks for adapting to an AI-integrated world. What I appreciated most was the focus on collaboration rather than replacement - showing how humans and AI can work together effectively rather than viewing it as a zero-sum competition. The real-world examples and case studies make the concepts tangible and immediately applicable to current workplace challenges. While some sections can feel a bit dense with information, overall it's an essential read for anyone looking to understand and thrive in our rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Great for AI users at any level
This should be required reading for any organization that is rolling out AI tools. It is very well written and easy to read. It feels like the author is talking to you rather than feeling like you are reading a text book. This is not one of those AI written works all about prompting. This is an informative book that will catch anyone up who has not been spending the time to stay current on AI developments. It's like the way TV shows used to have a "Last time on..." before an episode because it had been a week since it was on. This will catch you up and give you easy to understand definitions for all things generative AI. I can't say enough good about it.

A must read
This should be your first read about AI. Clearly written with insights that only an educator can provide. As an example, I would offer the following quote from Chapter 6 : AI as a coworker. “ AI’s ability to act as a a friendly advisor could sand down algorithmic control, covering the Skinner box in bright wrapping paper.” Unusual for a nonfiction, I found this book a real page turner. The author is clearly well informed but constrained enough to acknowledge his limits in this quote for Chaper 9:AI as our future “And we do not know if Artificial General Intelligence would help or hurt us, or how it would do either.”

A good selection
Excellent for an introduction of AI. We used it for a work book club. It’s a little out of date in terms of the AI but the concepts brought good discussions for work.
