Small, lightweight, improved BT MP3 player.
This is a great inexpensive MP3 player! I was looking for a wireless MP3 player to use with Bluetooth earbuds at the gym to replace my ancient iPod nano and wired headphones. I also own a non-Bluetooth version A02S. This player is labeled A02XT on the back, and appears to be a newer version of the model as it had several additional side buttons which do not show in the pictures on the Amazon webpage nor on AGPTEK's website. There are now Volume Up and Volume down buttons on one side, and a Back button on the other side in addition to the 5 buttons shown on the front. These make changing volume and going back one screen so much easier and intuitive than with the prior A02 player on which you needed to manipulate several buttons on the front to go Back one screen or change volume. Bluetooth setup was very easy and haven't had any random disconnects. Sound quality is excellent. Be aware that the volume maxes out when using Bluetooth at a medium loud level, not super loud. You can copy songs from an iTunes playlist to this player, and have it play in the same order by doing a copy and paste (not drag & drop) of songs in the iTunes playlist into one of the Playlists in the folder on the MP3 player which can be seen in the Finder. If you select that Playlist to play songs on the MP3 player, the songs will play in exactly the same order as in your iTunes playlist with no change in sequence. It does take some time to transfer songs from your computer to the MP3 player especially you try to fill all 32GBs with songs. I did cause the player to freeze up when I erroneously pressed the Back and Vol down buttons together. To unfreeze, hold Play/Pause button about 10 seconds, screen goes off, then powers on, and all is good, no loss of files. I haven't tried any of the other capabilities (voice recordings, photos, etc) but I only purchased the player to play songs, and it does this perfectly.

Works great
Solid MP3 player, easy to transfer songs onto. Just FYI if you have headphones that use a USB-C jack, those won’t work. It has to be like the regular stick jack or bluetooth. Super small and easy to carry around.

Great mp3 player, terrible interface
I had to struggle a lot before I was able to make up my mind on a rating for this player. I've mostly used Phillips brand players in the past because I refuse to put up with the monstrosity of a piece of software that is iTunes and I think Apple products are ludicrously overpriced, which rules out most of the market. But Phillips isn't really doing the mp3 player market anymore, so I had to look elsewhere. Here's what I wanted out of an mp3 player to replace my aging Phillips 8GB: better battery life, higher song capacity, good audio quality, better playlist functionality. I definitely got the first three and only narrowly missed the last one, which is not a reflection on Phillips having good playlist support so much as AGPtEK somehow managing to make playlist functionality WORSE, which I wasn't aware was possible. This mp3 player has fantastic battery life, is very small and light, can be upgraded if I choose to buy a memory card even though the 16GB capacity is pretty roomy already, and has no problems with audio playback quality that I can find. I was able to use Windows Media Player for the initial import of music, which was nice and simple, but that's where my good experience with this player ended. I knew that in order to use the playlist capability I would need to build the playlist in a separate media program (they suggest Media Go or MediaMonkey- I chose the latter) and then import it if I didn't want to be stuck with only the three basic slots on the player for playlists-on-the-go and add each song individually through the player menus, which I have been stuck doing on my Phillips players and is a terrible way to pick out the 75 songs you want on your running playlist from the 150 albums on the player. Anyway, just take my word that this mp3 player has a horrible user interface. If you access your albums through the "music" function it scrambles the order of songs in the album, regardless of title or listed order. It will display them properly if you access them through "folders" but doing that breaks the repeat function and it will immediately go to the next album in the list when you reach the end of the album. My initial import was sorted alphabetically but albums I've added since then immediately go to the bottom of the list in chronological order. I manually created a folder within the folders for playlists and manually made a folder for each playlist, which works pretty well except that, to my great perplexity, the SECOND playlist I synced to that folder (songs in playlists need to be duplicate songs on the player, which I knew going in and was fine with because the player is roomy enough to handle it) also dragged along duplicate album folders for every song in the playlist and dropped them in roughly chronological order at the bottom of my album listing, so now I have 50 or so junk album folders with one or two songs in them cluttering up the bottom of my actual album list. But hey, at least I got the playlists to work, even though any changes to it need to be made by deleting it, editing it in MediaMonkey, and then re-syncing the whole playlist. In the end, I had the presence of mind to realize that this player is really doing everything that I wanted. The folder-album interface problem is not intuitive, but I understand it and can work around it and it isn't THAT inconvenient. It would be inconvenient if I was trying to walk someone else through the process of finding an album or making a playlist, but since I understand it and I'm the only one who uses the player, that's not a problem for me. As it was, I spent probably a solid forty minutes trying to get the playlists to work and not screw up the rest of the interface and only marginally succeeded at the latter part. But still, it was a low-cost player and like I said, it does everything I want it to do with very little actual inconvenience, which is why I decided it was worth four stars.

Awful Product. Terrible customer Service. Disappearing Playlists. Missing music from playlists.
The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. Nice packaging. Smaller and more lightweight than my Sony MP3 (not that it is a good thing, just stating a fact). I purchased this to "give it a shot" because my SONY MP3 NWZ-E385 16gb walkman started having a lot of trouble restarting and freezing (this after only a month, having had my previous earlier SONY model 8gb walkman for 6 years with no problems until it died). Because it was purchased as a "refurb" on Amazon, I had no warranty. The reason I chose this model of AGPTEK was because it had a slot for a micro SD card and was affordable. I purchased a 64 gb micro SD card. I was already using the AGPtek recommended Media Go with my Sony MP3, so transferring my music and playlists was a breeze. Transfer to the micro SD was rapid. I placed about half of the music on the player itself (about 1000 songs and 6 playlists). I placed about 1000 songs and another 6 playlists from those songs on the micro SD card. The micro SD card can be accessed by using the micro SD card placed in the adapter and inserted into the USB of your computer. Or while the AGPTek is plugged into your computer, MEDIA GO lets you choose which storage option easily (the micro SD (called the card folder) or the player itself: called the local folder). Each still has a ton of room left! I wish SONY Walkman had this micro SD card option. The GOOD news ends there. The bad. Fully charged, I went to work and looked through my playlists to begin my day. I wear gloves all day so having a playlist that lasts 4, 6, 8 hours or more is extremely useful so I don't have to go back to the player menu and remove my gloves. I noticed some of the playlists I had added to the player (local folder) and to the SD card (card folder) were missing. Hmm. Okay. I figured I must have done something wrong. So I listened to a couple of playlists that were showing up. Not having the computer with me, I could not verify how many tracks should be in the playlist, but I started to think, some stuff is missing. Back home that night, I plugged the player back in. Interesting, all playlists in both locations show they ARE there. But they were missing when trying to access them that day. I double checked the tracks that should be in each playlist, hmmmmm, a lot of tracks were missing! So I tried to "re-put" the playlists but each time Media Go would say those were already in the playlist. I did this double checking every single album, every single playlist. Fully charged, back to work the next day. SAME PROBLEMS. I also use my playlists for themed parties. It is essential to know that the playlist will be there and all the songs/tracks are included. Over the next couple of weeks I tried to solve the issue myself. I removed everything from both locations and started over completely....a couple of times. The playlists that didn't show up at all always changed. One day they were there, the next day they were gone. However, the missing tracks from the playlists never showed up. I read over every question submitted on the Agptek forums and Q&A site. I submitted the problem on the AGPTEK Q&A site on around July 14, 2016 with no reply. I also tried to submit with the form on the 'contact us in agptek' website but an error message keeps popping up. Note: when the AGPtek is plugged into the computer and you access it in Media Go or Windows Media Player, all of the playlists play perfectly. The UGLY. I emailed "Leo" at AGPTEK (as instructed on the limited warranty card) beginning July 24. In 3 weeks time we have went back and forth and back and forth. I asked them for help and that I would post the solution to Amazon.com to help out others with the same problem. I have spent countless hours trying to go through the playlists to tell them exactly which songs were missing. The very first email "he" replied to, he suggested to update the firmware. I did. No resolution. I went so far as to screen shot my computer and to send them a 9 page color .pdf document. I showed them some of the playlists that had tracks missing from both locations (micro SD and the player itself) and how they look when the mp3 is plugged into the computer (complete) and what the original playlists and albums look like in Media Go. I typed out the song information (file size, etc) for many that were missing. I also sent them a photo of my AGPTek screen so they could see how it looks on the player. I have spent more than 10 hours on this and trying to make it as simple for them to understand so they can send me a solution. (I have a lot of Asian and international friends, so I'm used to breaking down the language to make it as easy as possible). Each response from "leo" seemed to be more and more confusing and evasive. (it no longer seems like a language barrier but a stubborn attempt to push me off) For several emails they only focused on the SD card. (the problem is the same on the player itself and the SD card). At one point, even after the in-depth .pdf, they wanted me to video my player and send them a video of the problem. Are you kidding me? One email response from them included a link to a brief youtube video on how to create and transfer playlists from Media Go to the AGPTEk. I had already told them I did it successfully and had been using Media GO for a year with my Sony Walkman. Another useless response. At one point I asked if they ever read the .pdf file I sent to them. When they became obsessed with the SD card, I asked, AGAIN, what about the player itself?? Forget about the SD card, what about the same problem that the AGPTEK player is having? No response. Two things they will have you check is: "And the player support mp3 format:Bit rate(8kbps-320kbps);Sampling rate:(8KHz-48KHz)"-they wanted me to check everything or send them the songs. Say what? There are HUNDREDS of missing songs. I checked everything myself and ALL of my stuff met these requirements. All of my albums are English titles with no strange characters (something I read on a Q&A). Remember everything I put on there was on my Sony Walkman with no troubles. If you have ever been swindled you know that one thing a swindler will do it to talk in circles. Talking in circles to confuse you so that in the end you don't even remember your original question or problem. I believe this company is a joke. The customer service is terrible. Not only is the problem as stated simple to understand, they have never once offered for me to send it back (I saved everything and the box) to have a repair done. On their warranty card it states "AGPtek offers a warranty of 6 months", but get this, it goes on to say, "if you leave a good user rating for our product, the warranty date can be extended to 12 months as an extra return for you". However, on the box itself it states "5. The device comes with 12 months warranty. Please contact us at [email protected] for granting 60 days money back protection." I am sure they are hoping I will give up and go away. Time for me to inquire about this money back protection. Wish me luck. BTW, my husband kept searching and found more people with the same problems with this player. Learn from our mistakes. BUYER BEWARE.

AGPTEK A02 MP3 player review
So I will start off with the what's good: The sound quality is amazing, especially for a device that only cost me about $40. Paired it with a decent set of headphones or earbuds (I have a pair of Bose QC35 headphones) and it is high-quality sound for a very budget-friendly price. If you need it, it also has an FM radio, as well as the ability to record sound, play videos, and show pictures. Now the bad: One thing I really don't like is the way the "up" button on the navigation menu functions. If you are like me, you are buying this because you have hundreds of CD's worth of music you want to put into one place. And-depending on what direction you are searching through your stuff-what you will have a tendency to do is to hold the "up" button down to keep looking. However, continually holding the "up" button down on the Agptek will send it into search mode. I do like the search function, but I wish they would have put it somewhere else, such as a long push on the menu button. Another thing is how it reads the track order. I have a lot of CD's that I encoded a while ago to Mp3 format. A player such as one of the Sansa Sandisk units-or a player with Rockbox installed- will read the correct track order with no problem. This one? It's a bit of a crap-shoot. Sometimes it gets it right....other times, not so much. But the biggest problem I have is with the build quality: After only about a month of use, the headphone jack is already malfunctioning, playing sound only out of one side (unless you hold it just right). Yes, I know that I can just use Bluetooth headphones.....but that's not the point. So I guess my next step for this player is to take it apart and try and solder the headphone jack in place, and then see if I can install Rockbox onto it. Dear AGPtek: at one point in time, I do believe you were going to partner with Rockbox to make a player with Rockbox Pre-installed . Any chance this could still happen??!!

Don’t lose it, it’s smaller than it looks!!
Okay, so I have a feeling that I’m going to get sent back to residential or some sort of care for my ED, and most places don’t allow cell phones. Last time they were very particular about mp4 players so I decided to get an MP3 player this time. This little thing is so cute and small! It functions quite well, buttons are easy to use after a while. I got the one with I believe 64GB of storage and currently have around 140 songs. It took roughly around 2 hrs to get this set up, it comes with a memory card in I think, because I didn’t receive one in my package. It came nice and neat as well. It also pairs really easily with my Beats Studio pro (all you have to do is press it u til it’s flashing and it connects) though I’m not sure about my soundcore earbuds yet. It’s really cute, very small, it can fit in your pocket. The speed itself is normal , and charges really fast. Thank you!

Player sounds great, controls are easy to use and battery lasts a long time.
Great little MP3 player. Sound is good, controls are easy to use and understand. Love the simple on/off switch and lock/unlock control. Other players I own have multi-function buttons that are confusing and fussy. I've used it for a couple of weeks with earbuds when out for a morning walk, and the battery still shows full charge so that seems to be another good capability. Also like the USB-C port for charging and computer connection.

not user friendly
i purchased this because i was looking for a cheap mp3 to listen to audio books on and boy was i disappointed... it technically does everything it advertises but the buttons press way too easy and make a lot of noise when pressed and not the satisfying clicky noise but like squeaks and cheap plastic. the buttons pushing this easily make it hard to pocket without activating or canceling an action and the on/off switch also pushed easily while trying to retrieve the player from my pocket. while that was something i did, i had to intentionally dodge that button when reaching for it or risk shutting off the player unintentionally. there is not a close screen button like to go to the standby screen to see the time. locking the buttons just prevents other buttons from taking effect. as such it is an unreliable time piece which is one function i needed it for. the menu is non intuitive. it seems straight forward on the front-end, but it took a while to figure out how to leave the book i was listening to without closing out the player, and when the screen goes to sleep per its timer, the player would stop my book. still haven't figured that one out one hundred percent. positives! it does have a good blue tooth function. easy to use and connect too. but had connection problems when the device would go to sleep. might be user error. device has sound jack and speaker. speaker isn't peak quality but i didn't expect it to have one and it works well enough for what it is. device has physical on/off switch, no press and hold garbage for power. conclusion. while it technically qualifies as a budget option media player, the device is not as easy to use as other budget alternative devices.
