I always wanted a tatami room and recently decided to convert the “living room” of my tiny studio into one. These mats arrived quickly and in perfect condition. At first they will have a strong hay odor but that fades and becomes very subtle over time. Certainly better than the chemical odor of carpeting. They clean easily with a soft broom (do NOT run a vacuum over them) and seem sturdy and well-constructed.

Love it. It's two mats and they aren't *exactly* the same size but I don't mind at all. I put cheap shelf liner strips under these to hold them in place on the floor a little better, seems to work alright. The rushes do smell strongly and not in a good way at first, but as the mats air out it's not so bad, it even mixes with my floral reed diffuser somewhat pleasantly. I expect it'll get more subtle with time. They're smooth and relaxing. My favorite thing is that they really complete my living room space, it's perfect for sitting on the floor with my knitting and tea when I want to decompress. I'm really glad I decided to get these instead of just sitting on the floor, even if it's only a little padding it clearly designates the space for relaxing purposes only. Just need some wall paint and it'll be heaven!

I bought this months ago because my senior dog could no longer get on my bed. This was the perfect solution, she walks right on it now. It does still have that grass scent to it, natural -not funky. It has a felt like material on the bottom side so it won’t scratch my floors. And the thick woven grass keeps ventilation so it won’t mold. Perfect queen size. I like that it came in 2 folding halves, making it easily moved.

This mat does not prevent mold. I habe only had it for less than a month and there is mold on the floor under the mat. On the mat. And on the mattress that was on the mat.

Have used this mat daily for several months with no issues or problems. This mat is opened and closed daily to use as a base for a roll up mattress that gets put away in the closet each morning. There has been no tears but a couple small loose fibers here and there. Love the real grass smell! If you are looking for this style of japanese floor mat then look no further! Great price for an amazing product.

It's thin, and does have a grassy smell. However it keeps my mattress off of the floor which is amazing. If it's on hard floors it will slip and slide, so be prepared to put something under it if you don't want it to try to run away.

This is a good thin Tatami mat. Folds up fairly small. Has a pleasant natural smell that fades a little overtime. Used for a few months and has worked well for me. I have used both thin and thick tatami mats and I think both are suitable for sleeping. A thin mat like this gets you extra portability, affordability, and space-saving. On carpeted floors it’s will do the job well.

Good quality for the price! Perfect size as they described. The smell goes away in a week (horse hay and stinky dog smell)
