Review: A must have for your collection - I owned the Laserdisc concert and it was soooo good. I converted the audio to CD, but the quality wasn't as good as this version. So, I bought this digital download and I enjoy it so much. The musicianship was fantastic. One of my all time favorite drummers, Dave Weckl, is the foundation along with John Pattitucci. I'm so glad those two remained constant. The rest of the band had featured different musicians on Piano changing from Russell Ferrante, David Benoit, Kenny Kirkland, Dave Grusin. Amazing. I wish this was available on DVD. It's out of print, and if you can buy it they jacked up the price!!!

A must have for your collection

Real Jazz
My son had this on his computer, and when he moved away I had to have it, also, so I ordered the CD. I really enjoy the selections, and the fact that these guys had never really played together before they came and did this album. A great collection of jazz songs.

One Sweet Recording
This is a most impressive recording that I've earmarked it as one of my favorites in my collection. As an aside, to really appreciate this recording you must listen to it on a stereo with good sound separation. The arrangements and sound are phenomenal.

Grab it if you can find it
There's nothing in the world like the sound of a big band. This is a good big band (I should say it WAS a good big band--it's been quite some time since this recording was released). While containing all the requisite punch, this band was noteworthy for lighter aspects of its sound. Clarinets play a larger role in the band than most. Bebop standby 'Donna Lee' has been charted with piccolo and vibraphone speeding along at breakneck pace. There's an unusual chart of 'Spain' that only contains fragments of Chick Corea's original melodies. Nice, but peculiar. There's not much else on the CD that isn't a standard (Seven Steps, Round Midnight, etc), but the charts are fresh with plenty of room for nice solo work. It's a rare thing to hear a big band nowadays--just too expensive. But there are a lot of fine recordings available for lovers of the form. This is one.

Serious Jazz
This series of CD's by David Grusin and his All-Star Big Band-- should be in EVERYONE'S jazz collection in my opinion, That talent /the arrangements / the FLAWLESS execution makes this one of my favorites still-- and I've heard it hundreds of times. Just a MUST HAVE...!!

Qualitativ gute Aufnahme. Für Fans von GRP eine absolute Kaufempfehlung. Für Sammler ein Muß. Zu dem angebotenen Kaufpreis sollte man zuschlagen.

Die 2. gute BigBand-CD die ich in meinen jungen Jahren damals hören durfte. Jetzt musste Sie auch im Original her. Gehört in jede Sammlung!
