Review: Function vs Quality - I purchased and received the assist version of SportsRoyals power tower on Dec 16, 2023. I’m am writing this review 2 weeks after I assembled and started using it. Before purchase I had read most of the recent and top rated reviews and found them very insightful. But, I also noticed opinions varied based on expectation, fitness routine and stature. so, this is my 6 foot 225 pound moderately active opinion. The shipping box looked smaller than expected and weighted 86 pounds. The contents were tightly and securely packed. There is no user guide, and what many people have reported as terrible assembly instructions is really an exploded view of components. So, it helps with assembly but not well. I struggled until I realized the manufacture put an assembly video on desertcart. Short and not perfect but, using it in conjunction with the so-called assembly instructions, it was understandable. From the time I moved the shipping box into the house, assembled and cleaned up afterwards 4 hours had passed. I took my time, made no mistakes and used every part and fastener supplied. I’d call success. When looking at pictures that some reviewers have submitted, I noticed equipment structure was not always of the same design. Those reporting the most shake or flex where made with round tubular steel frames. Strong but hard to attach support arms to. The one pictured and I received was made with squared tubular steel and has an “H” style base. Not the triangular base some pictures show. Guessing the manufacture has recently re-designed the tower to address stability (Shake and Flex). The desertcart site says the tower supports 440 pounds, however, the so-called assembly instruction states 330 pounds. Could it be the result of the re-design? I can confirm that the top pull-up bar connection does creak under my weight as reported, but it doesn’t bother me or seem excessive or dangerous. I included a video. Notice there is minimal flexing. A result of the squared tubular steel I suspect. The steel is thinner than I expected which became noticeable during assembly. Do not tighten the bolts beyond tightly snug or the tubular steel will start to buckle-in. To be fair I have a tendency to over torque everything. I compared this tower with the commercial brand Hoist. There is no comparison in quality. The Hoist is many times stronger but also many times more expensive. Actually 4 times more with no assist. The questions is, when is strong, strong enough. The SportRoyal would never hold up in a commercial fitness center. But probably good enough for my home gym. I needed the pull-up assist to get my muscles started, and it functions as others have said. Not the smoothest movement but, it does what it’s meant to do. However, the seat is completely and totally in the wrong position for assisted dips. Online specifications say each of the 4 assist bands is 22 Lbs, 88 total. I tested this by placing two 45 pound weight lifting plates on the seat. This 90 pounds lowered the seat 75% of the way down. Removing 1 plate, 45 Lbs, raised the seat 75% of the way back up. So, I would call this spec accurate and not bad for functioning with bungees. Prior to purchase I could not figure out how the assist seat converted to a back support. So, I included the change-over in the video. Easy to do after a couple of tries. The manufacturer must have been concerned that the pulleys on the assisted seat bungee system would bottom out and get damaged. So, they included what they’re calling an anti-crash support. A rod that stick up from the H base frame. I included it in the video. Easy to remove or install but very dangerous. If you forget to remove it and you lose grip when the seat is in the backrest position, you could impaled yourself. In conclusion: The manufacturer designed a functional and well thought out power tower that gives me the exercises I wanted, accept for assisted dips. The build quality is consistent with what I expected for home equipment. The relatively low cost and light weight allowed me to try, lift and afford the purchase. I don’t expect the assist bungee system to last forever, but, it should last long enough until I don’t need it anymore. There are no other low cost towers with assist that I could find. Yes the top pull-up bar can be set at several heights but don’t expect it to be a regular adjustment, it’s too difficult for that. Also, the assisted seat travel length is fixed which makes the pull-up bar height dependent on it. All-in-all I would purchase this power tower again.
Review: Very sturdy - nice product. - I'm very pleased - this is a nice bit of equipment. I chose it over others because of the weight - over 60 Lbs vs 50 lbs or less for most of the lesser priced units. It's mainly because the tubing is thicker on this unit - 2mm vs 1.5mm for most others. Even the 2mm is not all that heavy duty, those others must be like tin foil. I have seen others mention wobble but that must be due to improper assembly or uneven floor surface, because this is very sturdy with no wobble at all and I weigh 185 lbs. Instructions are WAY overcomplicated, the single most important keys to assembling this are just the two base pieces and the 2 upright pieces labeled L and R. Step 1 should just be mount upright L to one of the base pieces (base pieces are identical, use either) by inserting the 4 mounting bolts from the BOTTOM of the base piece and lining up those bolts with the holes in the upright piece L. Start the lock nut onto those mounting bolts so they don't slip out of place, then turn that section (now a unit comprised of the base piece plus the upright piece) onto it's side and TIGHTEN ALL 4 BOLTS as tightly as you can. Repeat that with the other base piece and upright R. Now you have the critical foundation already lined up and very secure - those two base pieces and the two uprights L and R form the "skeleton" to which the rest of the unit can be attached and tightened. Step 2 would be to place those two sections L and R you just assembled across from each other (obviously you want to keep the L and R on the correct side) and maneuver the bracing bars into place. One person can EASILY do this, the L and R sections you firmly assembled are very stable. You can just slide them on the floor as needed to get the spacing required to position the bracing bars into place. Insert the mounting bolts for each of those bracing bars but DON'T tighten them completely yet. THEN you put all the other pieces onto the "skeleton" and tighten EVERYTHING as tightly as possible. The instructions tell you to mount the arms and pads first, and to NOT tighten the base until the end of the assembly but the problem with that is once you get all the pieces together it is impossible to keep things in line as you tighten the bolts for the base because you HAVE to be able to access the BOTTOM of it and you can imagine trying to tilt that entire assembly from side to side to reach those bolts, OF COURSE it is never going to be stable because everything is flopping around as you try to tighten all the bolts! Do it the way I point out and as long as your floor surface is level you should have a very solid unit indeed. My unit fit together very well and is solid as a rock. I am very happy, glad I spent a little extra to get a heavier unit and I cannot imagine this will not last me as long as I need it. Well worth the money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great low cost option for home gym
*by K***S on March 30, 2026*

I bought this power tower after reading reviews and watching YouTube videos. I got a good deal on it at $119. I have a lower ceiling in my basement so I was looking for something with an adjustable back height. It came in a box while wrapped all the pieces were there no damage with clear instructions. We checked to make sure all the pieces were there before we started assembling it. Also, you should not tighten the screws until you're fully assembled it which is what the instructions tell you to do. It was easy to assemble and took under an hour. It is very sturdy and level even on carpet. For the people in our house we have a wide variety of height and weights and it's worked for everybody (ranging from 5'1" to 6'5" and from 110 pounds to 220 pounds). It's great to supplement a basic gym at home and work on your core. The only downside for the smaller people in the house is the arm pads on either side are a bit wide, but still within range. I was hesitant to buy this because of the low cost, but it's a great value for the money. And we save the instructions so if we ever move, it'll be easy to disassemble and reassemble. There's no wobbliness and no creaking or noises when it's in use.
