Cheapo dust masks are about a buck a mask, and you can use them once or twice before throwing them away. This one is 27 bucks, so economically, it needs to last me for at least 27 uses. After that, it'll start saving me money. I'll give an update if and when I reach that threshold.I do not own an ATV, and although these were designed with off-roading in mind, they still serve as a pretty good respirator. They will not filter toxins, however. Just dust and debris.The most notable feature of this dust mask is the under-the-nose filter. It sits flush against your nostrils and keeps you from fogging up your glasses or goggles. I don't know of any other dust masks that operate this way.Now, admittedly, when I opened up the package and inspected this dust mask, I thought the material felt a little cheap. It does not feel durable enough to justify a $30 dollar price tag. The red nose foam is less porous than the black foam, and it feels a little more durable. The black foam feels like it'd tear pretty easily. That said, I believe if you take good care of this mask, it can last. Wolfsnout recommends that you do not put it in the wash, and I would second that notion. Keep it out of the wash. I doubt it would last through a wash cycle. You can, however, rinse and handwash it. I've yet to try this, and I'll try to remember to give an update when I get to that point.The strap is not adjustable, and it's got a thin line of what feels like hot glue smeared on one side. This adds traction to the strap and helps hold it to your hair without having the strap slide down. Nifty idea, but it appears to be more kluge than design. If looking at a thin line of hot glue on the strap doesn't bother you, its functionality works like a charm. The way you "adjust" the strap is simply by positioning it on your head. I have a fairly small head, so I've got the strap positioned at the top/back portion of my head. The mask keeps a good seal at this position, and I believe this is was the intended design. The mask needs to be pulled up and back to create a proper seal around the nostrils.As far as the filters go, the red nostril filter is fairly dense and is difficult to breathe through. Technically, you COULD breathe through your nostrils and keep your mouth shut, but that would be difficult. If your heartrate is up (say you are pushing a mower), it would not be possible.I don't think this mask was intended for nose-breathing, however. I believe they didn't want to simply plug your nose, so they give you some breathing capabilities with it. But this is more of an augmentation to mouth breathing, and with it, you breathe more natural than if you had your nose plugged.The black foam mouth filter is much more porous and easy to breathe through. I had no problems with it.I push mowed and weed-ate for at least two hours in 90 degree weather this past weekend, and the dust mask worked great. I thought it'd look and smell nasty afterwards, but it still looks and smells brand new. I also did some woodworking, cutting 2x4's with a compound miter saw, and it kept the dust out.I've not had a chance to cut drywall, but I'd be curious to see how it'd fair against a very thin dust particle.In short, it's a nice concept. I like how the nose filter keeps you from fogging up your glasses. On the downside, the mask feels hand made and the strap is not adjustable. This makes it feel overpriced. Now that I've turned it over in my hands, I'd say it should be priced around 15 bucks. With a 30 dollar mask, I'd expect a wire frame, hemmed edges, sewed seams, adjustable strap, and no sight of hot glue.If this lasts me 27 mows, however, I'll bump it up to four stars. Until then, I give it three.***UPDATE 9/25/14***Here we are at summer's end. Figured I'd give an update. The mask is holding up well. I've mowed every 18 days or so. I estimate that I've mowed 14 or 15 times. That'd put me around half of the 27 mows I'm shooting for.The mask is in pristine condition. The strap has not lost any of its elasticity from what I can tell. Somehow, the mask is still clean, and it doesn't reek of sweat (which is surprising).I have also done a fair amount of woodworking. I've cut dozens of 2x4s with a miter saw, and the mask worked great for that. Kept the sawdust out of my nose and mouth.I'm going to go ahead and bump this up to 4 stars because I believe I'll hit that 27 mows threshold next year, and that it'll pass with flying colors. I'd give this 5 stars if it was a little cheaper.Quite impressed with this product. Glad I purchased it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product!! *by R***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 12, 2015* As a casual rider, my friends let me ride with them on occasion, so I only get out but a few times a season. Riding in packs, I don't even mind being the last one in the group now, if any of the others don't wear one of these, they will be subject to breathing in plenty of dust. The mask holds up well, and when we take a break, most of the other riders have a huge dust film around their noses and mouths, but the Wolfsnout keeps the dust, for the most part, out. I can't see bandanas or painter type masks really doing the job, this is a simple, effective, lightweight, easy to use mask. I do drop the mask, but keep it around my neck once we are riding in grass, or the woods, but dusty trails and roads are where this product shines, and it is easy to simply grab the mask again, move the strap back up to hold it in position, it takes just a few seconds once you learn how it fits best. The elastic band seems to be holding up after two years of use, and if one takes some dishsoap, warm water and hand washes this, it should last for a long time, as it is perfectly re-usable. I never had any difficulty with it moving around, or causing an issue with the several goggles I've tried either. Kind of quirky looking, I think as more of them are seen and used, it will improve the riding experience a LOT!! I get very little dust now, great innovation. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get's the Job Done! *by D***3 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 25, 2016* Used this for a few hours of riding. It was really hard to get on with a full face helmet. Granted my cheek pads are really tight, but I haven't been able to keep it in place once while putting my helmet on, I am able to move it back up into position though after I put my helmet on. As far as function, it seems to do the job. I didn't have any problem breathing through the nose or mouth, and it made me feel like I could keep breathing through my mouth when I was doing through dust clouds vs. before without it forcing myself to breath through my nose. No issue whatsoever with fogging up goggles. After a few moments, I forget I was wearing it. It washed easy in the sink and I just wrung it out to dry.
