A twisting, pulse-pounding thriller from Freida McFadden, the New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid and The Coworker "You must be our new neighbors!" Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter's hand and smile back: but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I'll do anything to keep it that way… I used to clean other people's houses―now, I can't believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve. Even though I'm wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it's our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it's like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills… The Lowells' maid isn't the only strange thing on our street. I'm sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors. Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here? I thought I'd left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all? From New York Times , USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone read: and once you start, it will have you up all night racing through the pages until the final explosive twist. Review: Just wow … - Frieda McFadden has done it again with *The Housemaid’s Watching*, the latest addition to her gripping psychological thriller series. If you're a fan of twists that leave you breathless, this book will hit you like a freight train—and the endings of the series as a whole? Insane. In the best way possible. McFadden’s mastery of suspense is in full force here; every page pulls you deeper into the intricate plot, leaving you second-guessing everyone’s motives and wondering where the truth truly lies. The pace is relentless—once you start, you won’t want to put it down. But let’s talk about the ending—McFadden saves the best for last. The conclusion will hit you with such force that you’ll find yourself re-reading it in disbelief. Every twist ties together in the most satisfying, jaw-dropping way. It's the kind of ending that’s so unexpected yet completely earned, leaving readers stunned and satisfied. For those who have followed the series from the start, it's a thrilling crescendo that wraps everything up with heart-pounding intensity and a gut-punching final twist that will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about the characters and their motives. If you’re in the mood for a dark, twist-laden thriller with a finale that will leave your head spinning, *The Housemaid’s Watching* (and the entire housemaid series) is a must-read. McFadden has once again proven that she is a master of suspense, and the insane endings in this series solidify her as one of the top names in the genre. Review: Another Housemaid - There’s a line in the book, told with a wink, about how a third novel in a series is never as good as the first two. Not true in this case. This was just as good as the other Housemaid novels. For background on Millie and Enzo, it definitely helps if you’ve read the first two novels. This one is set a decade later, in which Millie has 2 children, and is no longer a Housemaid. She’s a social worker, which - though maybe a bit unrealistic given her prior years in prison- is a perfect job based on her willingness to help other women in need. The first half of the book is somehow both fast-paced, and also a slowish burn. I felt there was some repetitiveness in Millie’s thoughts about Enzo’s secrets, especially his possible infidelity. It’s exciting to read, but just when you think the plot’s going to really move, the author pulls back, and it only inches forward. Normally building this type of suspense is great, but I think the author did it a few too many times. The other thing I found a bit puzzling was the hesitation between Millie and Enzo to communicate with each other about what they were separately doing. If you’ve read the other 2 books you know that, both separately and together, Millie and Enzo have done a number of criminal things (even though they were done to protect themselves, or others). Their unwillingness to truthfully communicate - mostly from Enzo’s side - after having gone through so much together, felt a little out of character. Those two areas are why I gave this book a 4 instead of a 5. Otherwise, this book was terrific. An attentive reader might guess some things, but would be unlikely to figure it all out. As the book progresses, the pages fly by. You can’t stop reading. Millie is, and always has been, a very likable and sympathetic character. Enzo is more of a mystery, but also very likable (and apparently VERY hot, which contributes to driving the plot). And Millie’s 2 very different children, Nico and Ada, are written realistically, with the mix of doubt and happiness that children aged 11 and 9 normally have. If you’ve read and liked the previous Housemaid books, you’ll like this one. If you haven’t, go back to read the first 2, and then come back to this one.

Okay, not as good as the first two books
Not as good as the first two books in this series. I read the first ones so fast and this one I have had for weeks and I’m still not done because honestly I keep forgetting about it. It’s okay, pretty slow, little suspense but hoping it gets better!

A superb thriller
Freida McFadden’s “The Housemaid is Watching” is a superb thriller. It is the fourth and final volume in a series about a kind woman who has helped many battered women and established a reputation among ladies in need of her assistance. She is married to a very handsome man who ran from Italy to the US after killing a man who murdered his sister. The two of them saved many women in the US. They are now married and have two children. The youngest, age 9, is very active and sometimes gets into mild problems, such as accidentally breaking dishes because he is not careful, and hitting another boy while they are in the third grade. His older sister, by a couple of years, is just the opposite. She is very caring, always makes her bed, and dotes on her younger brother. The family moved to Long Island and met their neighbors in their cul-de-sac. One is an older woman with a son who is in our protagonist’s class. She is a busybody who spies on everybody. She is overprotective of her son. She is unmarried. Another couple consists of a wife who our protagonist sees constantly trying to enchant her husband; she always touches him. Her husband does not seem to care what she is doing to another woman’s husband. Our protagonist’s husband hires a maid despite having financial difficulties, claiming he does so to help his wife. She dislikes the woman because the maid always looks at her strangely. She catches the maid stealing from her and fires her. There is a murder. The book is filled with red herrings, numerous twists, and people often misinterpret things.

The final install…..
Ugh can Millie and Enzo ever get a break? This woman has been through the ringer in life. Every time she tries to improve her or her now Famlies situation based on her “instinct” something always goes horribly wrong. For the 3rd book, I was hoping to read more of a HEA - even knowing Frieda doesn’t specialize in that type of genre. For Millie she deserves it though. From the first book when I read why she was in prison to the second one where she was being framed, I just wanted her to have w big pay day, marry the man of her dreams, start a family and be exonerated from all past “crimes”. What she did was protecting others and self defense. Why would she go to jail or even have a record? (Especially since she was technically a minor). Anyway, this story begins with Millie’s excitement of finally owning a home in the suburbs “on” Long Island. She and Enzo are married (about time!) and they have two beautiful children. Millie is a social worker & Enzo has a landscaping business. Ada age 11 and Nico age 9. This is their first real home that has a backyard and bedrooms the kids don’t have to share. They got the home below ask in a coveted area with top notch public schools. Yet the house is still over their price range, Millie just wants the very best for her kids. The kids are very close in age and share a special bond. I love that Enzo taught them Italian so they are bilingual. Millie is reminded over and over how handsome her husband is by the childless neighbor across the street and the single mom who keeps her son on a leash. Suzette is nosy, she’s condescending, and clearly after Enzo. She has a husband but he is more of a napkin personality. No one cares is he’s there or not. Suzette can’t help but take digs at Millie any chance she gets. She is younger and dresses provocatively. Yet while the audacious and ridiculously flirtatious neighbor may burn Millie’s butt, I have to give her so much credit!! Millie never lets it get to her! She expresses concern to Enzo but to others who make comments, she still stands by her man even when she has every reason to suspect he is not being as honest as she thought he was. The story has some good twists to it. Millie comments how neither of their children look anything or act anything like her as Ada is quiet/bookish dark hair and eyes beauty and Nico is non stop energy full speed ahead. But something happens and Nico is acting out with his fists. Millie knows something is off yet Enzo believes it’s just a boy being a boy. Ada is extremely protective of her brother and she is able to get him to confide in her. I loved the family dynamic as well as having Ada’s POV. Turns out the Apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree as one of Millie’s kids is more like her than they even know. If there is ever another book with the Accarrdi family I hope it’s a very happy one 🤞🏻

wow!!!!!!
Let me just start with: THIS BOOK. Wow. The Housemaid Is Watching grabbed me from the start and didn’t let go until the final twist—and even then, I’m still thinking about it. From the very beginning, I was suspicious of everyone: Enzo being way too friendly with the new maid and acting shady, Suzette constantly stirring drama, and Scarlett who had me screaming “kill her already” more than once. I had feelings about these people—and let me tell you, some of those feelings were very justified. Millie’s role in the household really shifted throughout the story. She started off just trying to live a peaceful life with her family, but jealousy, protectiveness, and straight-up survival mode kicked in quick. Her instincts were going off like sirens, and mine were too. The secret room reveal? Jaw. On. The. Floor. I KNEW something bigger was going on. And Ada? My heart broke for her more with each chapter. Speaking of Ada—when that final reveal came? That she stabbed Jonathan because he was a child abuser?? That scene hit like a freight train. I was shocked, emotional, and furious all at once. And just when I thought I had it figured out, BAM—Martha the housemaid swoops in and finishes the job. Talk about an unexpected hero. I was not ready for sweet little Martha to go full avenging angel with the knife slice, but I was clapping when it happened. Freida McFadden absolutely knows how to keep a reader on edge. Every chapter had a hint, an Easter egg, or some little line that made you pause and wonder if it would come back later—and it usually did. The pacing was fast and the suspense just kept building. Every time I thought I had a handle on things, another twist hit. I loved how the kids, Ada and Niko, were woven into the mystery—especially their reaction to Scarlett and their own hidden trauma. And let’s not forget Janice the nosy neighbor! I didn’t pay her much attention at first, but she ended up playing a huge role too. No one in this book was just a background character. In the end, I was rooting for Millie, Enzo, Ada, and Niko to get their peace—and they did. It wasn’t pretty getting there, but justice was served, secrets were unearthed, and I closed the book feeling totally satisfied. Highly recommend this to anyone who loves domestic thrillers, unreliable characters, twisty secrets, and a woman who finally says enough is enough.

Exceptional thriller!
Millie and her husband have just purchased their dream house, and they are moving in with their two young children. The children, Ada and Nicolas, do not share their parents’ enthusiasm about the move, and are wary about their new house and surroundings. Millie, on the other hand, is over the moon to start a new life in a good neighbourhood, and leave her troubled life well behind her. But the house and neighbourhood seem to have dark secrets and very soon, Millie starts to suspect that this new move could bring more troubles than happiness to her life. What are her two closest neighbours up to? One seems very oddly behaved, paranoid about everything and spying on everybody. The other one, Suzette, appears to have developed an unhealthy interest in Millie’s husband. As the story progresses, the reader does not know who to trust, every character seems to be hiding something. A well developed story, well written from different points of views, as the narrator is not always the same character. A story full of intrigue, mystery and twists. When I thought I had guessed the ending, I quickly found out I was completely wrong! This book is the final one of the series « The Housemaid », and although it can be read independently, I enjoyed the fact I had read the previous two and knew about Millie’s past life. I enjoyed this book tremendously and recommend all three books in the series.
