First new one after a few years, great quality still
This is what you expect from a Leatherman/similar multi tool: Heavy, kinda clunky, solid, very useful. It came as the proper product, well and safely and legitimately packaged (nowadays a risk here on Amazon I see so I mention this). All parts work and are in high quality function (remember, the sharps arrive sharp lol). If you’re new to these sorts of tools you’ll find it feels heavier and clunkier than you may find ideal when you first deal with it and wonder… but it’s like that for good reason and you get used to the feel of the leatherman. They’re built sturdy and while I’ve only had this one a very short amount of time I have had a few in the past of similar styles (lost, none let me down) I can assure this one is going to hold up to a lot of use. They take abuse well lol. It’s, of course, stiff in opening some parts but well greased. Again, common. Through use the stiffness of some parts will ease, depending on amount of use…. I needed something basic but also varied, I went with this model as it’s always a balancing act on multi tools of what parts do I and don’t I actually ever see myself using/needing and what am I actively seeking. As it’s largely for my camping needs this fits while coming along with a few things I may not use or may use differently than they are intended, as one does with tools haha; In addition to camping I randomly have to make repairs on the go to items and such (I’m a nomad who lives out of their backpack traveling around the world for years, you have to have fix-its at hand because who knows when or where something will break or how?)… so those extra tool bits that are honestly not likely to be used hardly ever may just come in handy at some point. Which was also the case when I was living in one place, so hey. If you’re like me and have that balance of “mostly for my outdoorsy life but here and there now and then, too” this style of leatherman I think is a good option. It’s always hard to narrow down multitools to the right one. So 5 stars: Despite Amazon arriving packages nowadays sometimes being dodgy, mine was fully legitimate. It is a good model for the “mostly for when camping but otherwise handy…” - not an EVERYTHING model and not a might miss something model. Very solid, well sharpened, sturdy hinges, good quality that I know from previous experiences will live up hard to proper use and additional abuse (my first ever was of this same quality back when I was in the Army and I assure you it withstood a lot more than average person's use… kinda awe inspiring, honestly). As I repeat, it is heavy and clunky and feels weird/awkward in the hand when using it (or at least it does for someone with my size hands… they’re admittedly small but I think this is a pretty universal feel lol). But that isn’t out of proportion for the tool. It’s the correct amount for the size, shape, and tools within this multitool… something to be aware of if it’s your first to expect and know it’s normal. If it’s not your first multitool of these kinds then know that this is one of the ones where the balance for the multitool is right. My 3rd or so black one, I think (as said, over the decades I lose a lot of stuff between moves and life) and it’s absolutely lovely to look at.

The Swiss Army Knife’s Cooler, Handier Cousin – My Husband’s New Best Friend!
I bought the LEATHERMAN Wave+ as a gift for my husband, and let’s just say it’s become his new weekend wingman. This multi-tool is so versatile and well-made that, on the weekends, he’s practically attached it to his belt permanently (literally). Here’s why this tool is a total game-changer: What Makes the LEATHERMAN Wave+ Stand Out: 18 Tools in One: This thing is like a toolbox in your pocket. Need pliers? Check. A knife? Got it. Screwdrivers, wire cutters, a saw, scissors, a bottle opener, and even a ruler? Yep, it’s all there. My husband has used it for everything from fixing the garden hose to opening stubborn packaging. Built Like a Tank: The stainless steel construction is rugged and durable. It feels solid in your hand and can handle tough jobs without breaking a sweat. It’s clearly built to last, which is exactly what you’d expect from LEATHERMAN. Easy to Use and Access: The tools are accessible from the outside, so you don’t have to open the whole thing to get to what you need. My husband loves how quick and convenient it is to switch between tools. Perfect for Everyday Carry (EDC): Whether it’s DIY projects around the house, outdoor adventures, or just everyday tasks, this multi-tool is always ready to save the day. My husband wears it on his belt like a superhero with a utility belt (minus the cape, unfortunately). Thoughtful Design: The ergonomic handles are comfortable to hold, and the locking mechanism keeps the tools securely in place while in use. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into making this tool as user-friendly as possible. A Gift That Keeps on Giving: I bought this as a gift, but honestly, it’s been a gift for me too. No more searching for tools or waiting for my husband to finish a project—he’s got everything he needs right on his belt! What Has He Used It For? Home Repairs: Fixed a leaky pipe and assembled furniture. Garden Work: Pruned overgrown branches with the saw. Camping: Opened bottles, cut rope, and even fixed a tent pole. Everyday Tasks: Opened packages, cut zip ties, and even used the file to smooth a rough edge on a shelf. Who Should Buy It? DIY Enthusiasts: Perfect for tackling home projects. Outdoor Adventurers: A must-have for camping, hiking, or fishing. Handy Folks: Great for anyone who loves having the right tool for the job. Gift-Givers: An excellent gift for dads, husbands, or anyone who appreciates quality tools. The LEATHERMAN Wave+ is worth every penny. It’s durable, versatile, and incredibly useful. My husband loves it, and I love how happy it makes him. If you’re looking for a multi-tool that can handle just about anything, this is it. It’s the ultimate “be prepared” tool, and I highly recommend it!

Tough, reliable, handy
Another winner from Leatherman. This multi-colored has all the tools that you might need for a simple camping trip, backpacking or any outdoor setting not requiring sophisticated tools. I find that it has helt up very well to my borderline abusive handling. It WILL rust on you if you don't take proper care of it. I've taken it fishing and have repeatedly had it in salt water and put it away without rinsing or oiling. I can't blame the tool for my abuse so I'm keeping the 5 stars but wanted to point out that it is a possibility to see rust if not taken care of. Overall great multitool and would absolutely buy again.

Can't leave home without it
This has been my EDC for almost a year and I am completely satisfied. I use this tool everyday, mostly the knife and screwdriver. The knives come sharp and stay sharp with use. All of the tools swivel out and firmly lock in place. And are easily taken down to fold. The pliers and cutters are precise, strong, and durable. I love the screwdriver and precision screwdriver Philips and flathead combo, comes in handy. The size of this is perfect for me. Its small and sleek enough on the outside that I can just keep it loose in my pocket without it snagging on anything. The only downside is with the black finish, when first bought, it is COVERED in black residue. After a while of wiping it down and eventual use, it had been cleared away. Other than that, best multi tool i've ever owned. Well done, Leatherman.

Leathermans are FANTASTIC!
Headline says it all. If you want a versatile, compact tool that can do most whatever you want to do, hit the buy button. Snag a Leatherman (all models are good). Toss it in your tool bag or junk drawer in the kitchen, hang it on your belt and you can toss a lot of specialty tools in the trash (or give the lesser tools to your up and coming handyman). The Leatherman will be your go to tool when you have a project to finish or a quick fix. Leathermans are versatile and very well made! Pick it up, open it up and you'll see immediately it is very high quality. Worth every penny. Not some cheap Chinese knock off. If you know tools, you can tell the minute you pick a Leatherman up, it's near a work of art. It will do 99% of what you need to do. Granted, they are not cheap. If you use tools you already know, good tools are NOT cheap and good tools will last you lifetime. And if you are like me, I DO NOT let others touch or borrow my good tools! I've been using Leatherman's for eons. I've bought a number of diff models. Not due to them breaking but because bone-head me has left them on projects or on jobs (like in a wall). I've bought no-name universal tools thinking I'd save some money and I've always ended up ordering a new Leatherman. The no-name knock-offs are not worth it, no matter how much cheaper they are than a Leatherman. I swear, I was not compensated for this review in any way. If you are on the fence, the price seems a bit high, don't know if you should spend the money to get a Leatherman - JUST DO IT. Stop hesitating, just hit the BUY button. You won't be disappointed! After it arrives and you use it a bit, you'll realize you should have ordered one earlier. I did not write this to be compensated (although it would be cool if Leatherman sent me another one (can't have too many). I don't write a lot of reviews. A mediocre item does not deserve a review. I wrote this review because in my humble opinion, I think Leathermans are that good and worth every nickel (even though that's a lot of nickels). I hope they continue to make killer quality tools. I am a customer for life.

So Useful - Gotta Have!
I love my Leatherman! It’s a Wave+. I love it so much I bought my wife one last Christmas! She always wanted to borrow mine for a package opening, quick pliers, screw, etc so on. She does a lot of walking with a friend and wanted her to have at least something for self defense too or more likely just a tool on her route for cutting, crimping, whatever! And now i get to keep mine and know where it is now!! Great knife, I think it’s better quality and has more useful tools than some of my other utility knife brands. I especially like the pliers, scissors, can opener and philips head. I would highly recommend it to just about anyone that has any tool need around the house or remotely. A gotta have!

Leatherman Wave+
The Leatherman Wave Plus good: Two knives, one serrated and the other straight. Way better than the combo version. Can sharpen the straight edge far easier and cut cord or rope to a straight edge. Think cutting rope to fit a purpose. Use the serrated to cut rope quick where you don't care about the edge of the rope. The serrated edge is only sharpened on one side. Saw is sharp and same length as the other multitools. Very useful. Could use it to cut wood or plastic. The file has three sides. One side is aggressive, wood file. The other side is very fine, finer then any file I have used. I think you could use it to sharpen a knife. The edge has the roughest side. Can use it to put a thin groove into wood or plastic. All tools lock Slotted screw driver is thick. Can use to lightly pry. Screwdriver bit is the flat design used on other Leatherman multitools. It works well enough. There is a ruler on the knife. I don't know why all multitools do not have a ruler on them. Does not take any space and very useful. Can measured screws or nails being used. Can use to buy new screws or nails at the store. Can measure many things with rough accuracy. Very useful to have a small measurement tool for small objects. Not so good: There is no indication on the multitool or the packaging that indicates where the wave plus is made. I know the description indirectly implied it is made in the Portland, Oregon factory. My other Leatherman multitools have USA stamped on the tool somewhere. Strange that this tool does not have that. I'm sure this means it was not made in the US. There is no bottle opener on this tool but it has a can opener. That's a bit confusing. Who needs a can opener in your pocket? On the other hand a bottle opener would more likely be used even if there was a bottle opener around somewhere. The multitool bottle openers just work great and fast to use. There are far more bottles to be opened than cans. There is no pocket clip. There is a hidden lanyard connector. So this was designed to be used with the nylon case. Would rather have an option. I prefer the pocket clip. The multitool is heavy compared to the signal. And the signal has more tool options that I would use on the trail. The pliers are more Needle pointed. That could be a good thing for some people. I prefer a lighter weighted Needle nose pliers. A wider plier is more useful when the tool is heavier. And this tool is on the heavier side. The eyeglass screen drivers are perhaps a bad design. The slotted screwdriver fits the prescription eyeglass I have. However the Phillips driver does not fit any prescription eyeglass I have, it's just a bit too large. But the bigger problem is the weight. When dealing with a small driver on a heavy tool it can be hard to use. And harder to prevent it from stripping a screw . It would be far more useful if the screwdriver pulled out from the tool and was hand driven. Perhaps a wing like tool that the driver fits in. Light and easier to handle when dealing with very small screws and delicate eyeglass frames. Too clumsy of a tiny screwdriver. Overall I do not find this to be the best multitool. Would rather have something like the signal. It has more useful tools for hiking use. Being lighter is a big advantage when carrying the tool. The heavier tool may not matter much if you throw this in your car for on the road use.
