Rustoleum Rust dissolver states the rusty surface will be paintable. I've had good experiences with Rustoleum. **Q: Will this work in a paint sprayer** A: Yes, when thinned with Acetone or Thinner. According to Rustoleum Tech Support use from 5-15% Thinner added the paint. I hope this helps. **Q: Does it make any sense to mix this with acrylic touch up paint to lighten the touch up paint as needed?** A: No - you'll have to use another acrylic paint to do that. However, for informational reasons - Rust-Oleum has become pure garbage. You can't even mix it with itself. For coverage, you either have to lay it on thick all at once, or you have about a 1 hour window to put on another coat.
