Neither color nor intensity can be programmed. However you can set DIY mode to change color or intensity. **Q: With the brackets on, will it fit a 30" tank exactly?** A: Make sure u get the right size for that measurement, they fit a range and are adjustable. I have a 10gallon tank **Q: What size light for a 20 gallon tank not loog neither** A: For my 20 gallon tall aquarium the best fit was a 24" to 30". It fit the aquarium without extending the brackets and covered the entire tank. I didn't have a cover on my aquarium, didn't have any jumpers in there, so I don't know how it will fit with your cover. **Q: Can this light be placed directly on top of the aquariim glass with the stand removed?** A: Yes, it can be placed on top of aquarim after removed the stand. The read out is-small but that can be ok with glasses. However, when I press the buttons it doesn't always respond. Then sometimes it goes to another aspect it shouldn't. I went online and read and re-read directions. Maybe my light is-wonky. I don't know.
