The Gingerbread Pirates Gift Edition

I found this book years ago at the library and read it to my kids when they were little. They're not little anymore, but the story had delighted me so much and stuck with me through the years that I eventually caved and bought it to have on hand ... for future grandkids, of course. ;)

This is a favorite Christmas book at our house!

This is an adorable story about a boy who created gingerbread cookies for Santa Claus. In only a few pages, the author was able to make the reader care about the Gingerbread Pirates and hope that they survive Christmas Eve.

This is a very cute story with very nice illustrations. It's hard for me to buy a children's book that I haven't touched or seen in person. But we are pirate fans with a four year old grandson. This is a charming story with a traditional Christmas story ending. It's worthy of being a Christmas reading tradition. I am pleased with the purchase and would buy again. I might even need my own copy since I gave this one as a gift.

We get a new Christmas book each year and this one was a big hit. The kids wanted to hear it over and over again. Tip for making it extra fun: Bust out your best pirate voice for the captain! My kids loved the extra ARRRRRGGHs! Some commenters wished it was longer or shorter, but I think it's just right for a wide range of kids. Not too long for my 4 year-old and not too simple for my 9 year-old (or the two in between). Good clean fun and a neat twist at the end.
