Fantastic kit to make your own charcoal!
Fantastic bit of kit! Love this charcoal maker. It’s so easy to use and produces about 1.5kg of charcoal from each burn. I’d recommend using hard wood sticks such as beech, oak, cherry or birch. Pack them in as tightly as possible. I’ve charcoaled wood of up to an inch in diameter. You’ll need a fairly big firepit (80cm +) to fit it into. Place it on a bed of hot embers and build up a fire around it for 2-2.5 hours. You may see the escaping gases ignite at the lid seams or the two top flues. Don’t be tempted to open it up until it cools completely as it could combust if opened while hot. I usually leave mine overnight and open it the next morning. Absolutely love it!
