Just what I needed! - I got a replacement for a faulty product
As title says, the product itself is good, made of plastic and looks very nice to the eye, however I did in fact receive a faulty product unfortunately. The external drive I received had a small but major fault - the entire connecting board where you connect the SATA 7+15 pins was slanted and on a slight angle. This meant that when you connect your Blu-Ray/DVD/CD drive to it, it sat on an angle and put stress onto the internal drives SATA connector. Luckily for me, I noticed this before I fully inserted the internal drive into it. If I did fully insert my Blu-Ray drive into it, then it would of most likely broken the SATA connectors on one or both units. The photos provided in this review does not make the justice to the angle the connecting board is sat at. When I contacted the seller about this fault, they agreed to replace it - they sent out the replacement and happy to report that this one I have now is perfect, so originally, I just received a faulty product! I received the replacement within 14 days. I have found the best and safest way to insert my internal drive into this external enclosure is to take it apart by peeling off the rubber feet on the base and taking out the screws, then gently pry it apart and slot the internal drive into it. It was too fiddly to insert it just by slotting it in without fully opening it, you risk misplacing the drive by not opening it up. I like how the enclosure features a universal 2 ways to connect the drive - either though USB or USB C. The main connecting board inside the enclosure (the motherboard) is a female Mini USB to USB/USB-C. I am using the Hitachi-LG BU40N Blu-Ray drive and the drive enclosure's connecting board supply's more than enough power to power the drive (I have tested both USB and USB-C inputs/outputs on my laptop, it works perfectly and adequately). There is also an included front shield for this, but I'm not using it because it does not fit my Blu-Ray drive. It is very travel friendly as the enclosure acts like a shield for your delicate drive. Overall, I can recommend. But please double check that yours is not faulty because you WILL break your drive if you're not careful!

Not good for 9.5mm drives
Although described as compatible, trying to fit a 9.5mm drive leaves large gaps and leaves the drive twisted in the enclosure. It's better to keep looking to find a dedicated 9.5mm enclosure. Also, the 'USB 3.0' claim is dubious. The USB A plug is a SuperSpeed plug, but that's all—inside the case the other end of the cable is a USB 2.0 mini-B plug, and the computer detects the drive at 480Mbit/s. That's not a major issue as the drive itself is unlikely to reach even that speed, but it is deceptive.

It does work after all!
Following Liam's advice under his 4* review, I separated the two halves of the case where I found that the internal USB connector had separated from the unit the disk unit fits into. Reconnecting it and testing, I found it connects and performed perfectly, so reassembled the case. The issue with the facing panel still remains however, and I had to glue it in place, but even so, it is much better than consigning it to the bin. Now I would buy it again. Whether the internal USB connection shook apart in transit, was poorly assembled or because of something I did, I don't know, but I am glad it's resolved. Thank you, Liam!

Plastic
You have to take it apart to put the drive in and I was scared that I break it.lots of stiff plastic catches… then it didn’t sit flat….. using drive bare as it was a pain to us

Simply plug and play
So easy to use. No screws. Simply push your drive into the enclosure. Very good contact made. My only gripe is the faceplate they supply isn’t a good fit for my 4k drive. However, I simply used my existing one. Also, the usb leads aren’t that long, but you obviously can add an extension. All in all, excellent value for money.

Nothing inside the plastic casing
Don't buy this product I ordered it a month ago and it arrived quickly. I didn't need to use it so didn't open the box (my error) When I did there was a plastic case only with nothing inside
