NETGEAR Powerline Ethernet Adapter Kit PLP2000, 2 Pack, 2000 Mbps

I am impressed how easy these were to install and how much they improved toe performance of my laptop and ROKU. The instructions did say not to use a surge protector. I used the choose an outlet lights and got a great connection to through the surge protector!! No more lost time waiting for videos to download. Wish I would have this improvement a year ago!!

I have been running my Xbox through wifi for the last few years until we moved the router to a different floor of the house. Since quarantine began we have many many more devices in the house on the wifi and our wifi dropped out constantly. I found the powerline solution and I cannot be any happier with this product. My download speed went from ~20mbps to ~120mbps! Installation was beyond easy. Literally just plug it into the wall, plug in the ethernets to your modem and the device of your choosing, watch the lights turn on and boom, youre done. The only issue I had: we loved this pair so much that we bought 2 more - when I plugged in the new pair around the house, the one plugged into my xbox lost SIGNIFICANT speed and caused me a minor freakout. Easily solved with a simple unplug and plug back in with the unit near my xbox. Crisis averted. I now recommend this product to every single one of my gamer friends who are playing on wifi. Still can't get over how great of a solution this is instead of wiring the entire house. 12/10 would buy again (and I did!)

I live at my mom's house, and I don't have permission for my parents to run an ethernet cable across the house. If you cannot and your Wi-Fi is not stable at 2 to 3 room distances this is perfect for you. I have ran tests too see if the Wi-Fi router being in my room not near a window versus next to a window with this adapter and found only small bandwidth reduction for downloading and uploading. And speeds similar to a ethernet connection directly to the router. A 4 ms delay in connection. I am not sponsored to say this but if you cannot get direct connection this is the number one solution I will give to anybody.

I've used the Powerline adapters in several situations where running regular Ethernet UTP wire just wasn't an option for various reasons. The basics are simple, both copper and (god help us) aluminum wiring can be used as a medium for Ethernet(ish) signals. And, households have a lot of wiring already in place as AC service to just about every room. But, that's where the similarities end. Household wiring can be, and often is, an utter mess of decades old patch jobs and 'cheats'. If you've a newer household with good copper wiring according to local code and installed by a competent electrician, these should work quite well and get a decent throughput of 200+ Mbs between outlets. (No, not 2000 Mbs, more like 200). This is perfectly fine for many applications and truth be told is just fine for most homeowners. However, if you've an older home with a mixture of wiring, oxidized outlets, bizarre AC panels, etc. The performance of these adapters will be a VERY mixed bag of performance and reliability. I use the 2000 series adapters for my own home which has had it's electrical work updated a decade ago and I get VERY nice performance of around 400Mbs. My In-Laws home howerver...well it's a hodge-podge of mixed wiring done mostly by my Father-In-Law and finding two good outlets was like playing a roulette wheel. In testing, I was lucky to get 20Mbs and the connections were unstable at best. For my in-laws who just want to watch Netflix far away from their 5G Router, this was okay. So, these should provide a quick, easy, decent alternative to running UTP cabling. But keep your expectations in check and consider the situation in which the adapters are being used.

This product has now failed on me TWICE within 1 year. Purchased beginning of 2020. Failed in June, 2020 (no power, no connectivity, no lights, item plugged in doesn't work). I worked with Netgears horrible support back then and paid the $16.90 to get it replaced and sent back. NOW...last week it failed A SECOND TIME. Called Netgear support today...and was on the phone for them for almost 3 hours (I swear...I am not kidding). After creating the ticket, transferred to the wrong person, then transferred to another person that also didn't have experience with powerlines who was trying to find someone, and then dumped without any warning to the beginning of another holding queue. I finally spoke to someone, albeit a very new customer support rep, that was at least trying to be helpful. After repeating my entire story a fourth time...and having to give my case number and serial number multiple times (twice to this rep), he at least tried to help me. I hung in there with him while he tried to diagnose with me until he asked me to try to sync the 2 devices together. Seriously...there are no lights on the one failed device...it is completely dead...and the outlet doesn't even work...and you actually still want me to arrange my whole other location to to try to sync them together? There are no lights on the unit... so that is where I drew the line. As I knew when I first made the call, he informed me that they could replace the hardware. However, by the time it came up that they would RMA the product, I either have to pay $17.00 (a second time no) for them to send to me...or I pay shipping to them. After 2 3/4 hours, 2 product failures, you actually want me to pay another $17 for something that so far has a 100% failure rate? Unacceptable! At this point, I am waiting for a "team leader" to call me back. BTW...there are other reviews here and other places that have the same exact example...works...then stops working. This product must have an issue with it to fail like this. However, above all, Netgear support has been the worst that I have experienced in at least 24 years (even worse than ISP...lol). It is a disgrace to a company that I have had allegiance to for many, many years! Well...to add fuel to the fire...after sending 3 more follow-up requests about Netgear taking ownership of this issue by contacting me and working through a solution by sending me a replacement...they actually closed the ticket without even responding to me by a phone call or email. Horrible, horrible support!! I tried to open another support request...I received an email back with a ticket number with them REQUIRING ME TO CALL THEM. After my last 2 1/2 hour horrible support request...I refuse to go through that fiasco again. Now I have 2 unusable pieces of junk here and no internet to my living room. I don't know what happened to Netgear...it looks like their quality is substandard...and that they don't stand behind their products anymore. If you like sub-par products with horrible support that is farmed out overseas (where they will not call or write you back)...then buy Netgear. If you want better quality product and better service...then I would explore other options like TrendNet, D-Link, or Linksys. I just purchased another switch...which is by Trendnet. Whenever it's time to replace my router...it will NOT be from Netgear. It's sad to say...but Netgear will never get a dime from me....ever again.

Wow so happy I found this. My job required a wire internet for work and my router was upstairs so this enabled me to get a wired internet connection downstairs. Thanks for saving my job this works beautifully!

TL/DR: This probably won't do what you're expecting it to. If you're looking for stable, high speed connections, you're better investing the money and time into running cat5e/cat6 wires. Pros: - Set up extremely easy, was up and running within 10 minutes - Very convenient if you're not tech savvy or handy Cons: - Way too many variables to predict if this will work well in your home. - Despite existing for a while, the technology just isn't viable for today's internet demands - Advertised speeds misleading to average consumers How I came to this conclusion: I needed to move my wireless router which caused wireless speeds on my gaming computer to cut in half, from 1gbps to ~400mbps. To get my old speeds back, I needed a hard ethernet line to my computer. So, like any other American, I sought out the easiest, laziest way to do that. Powerline adapters promised to be exactly that. I purchased the 2000mbps model which, if you haven't researched how powerline adapters work, equates to a shared maximum of 1000gbps up/down for all connected devices, assuming there's no electrical interference or resistance from your electrical panel. In other words, in an optimal environment, if 2 devices are sending/receiving data at the same time on the powerline network, the maximum speeds either device will be able to achieve is 500mbps up/down. The manufacturer also warns that "old" electrical wiring does not possess high enough bandwidth to yield high speeds, which I was aware of going into this purchase. What I wasn't aware of, and which is still not clear to me, is what the definition of old wiring is. My assumption was that they must be referring to knob-and-tube wiring and other obsolete wiring standards. My home was built in 1987, which meets the standard for the current electrical code in my state, and I have 1gbps fios internet. After setting up the powerline adapter, the maximum speed I was achieving was 100mbps up/down -- 1/10th of the speed the powerline adapter is capable of and 1/20th the speed it advertises.

TLDR: These are great and I highly recommend getting them before any of the smaller/lower bandwidth ones to add to your network. See the pros and cons below. I'm quite impressed with these. I ordered some of the smaller adapters NETGEAR Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter - XAV2101-100PAS at first and just couldn't get a stable connection on my 2 story house throughout all plugs. They did work but would disconnect and had a low bandwidth connection. I thought it might have been the wiring of my house even though it's a 2 year old house and had new copper wiring throughout. Turns out I just needed these instead. When I added the 2GBbs powerlines to my network it seemed to super charge all the smaller ones and it sems to actually work. Now I get a stable ethernet connection in any room that I have an adapter including my garage. I mostly use wifi throughout the house but keep my TV and desktop computers hardwired for a stronger connection. Now I can easily stream in 4k through the hardline and didn't have to go through the costly work of installing ethernet plugs in the rooms that I want to use a hardwired connection. Wifi is the way of the future but will continue to get more interference with more and more signals. These really helped. Pros: You don't "lose" an outlet and can still plug whatever device you are supplying ethernet to into the socket. There are two ports on the bottom with their own unique IP address so you can setup multiple computers/devices It's much easier to expand your wifi network by plugging in a second router to one of these and then using it as an access point for those areas in your house that have weaker signals They are very very stable. No disconnects (unless my whole network goes down) and they seem to work on any plug in my house. Even outside. It's worth mentioning that all Netgear powerline adapters are compatible. So I was able to use these with the smaller ones I mentioned and now those work too. There are a lot of different models for different needs. Some that broadcast a wifi signal, some with multiple outlets, some with multiple ports, and some super compact. Cons: The top is somewhat rounded and it does block the ground port on the socket above it.This means that you can't plug in two 3 pronged cords. It seems like if they just made it flat at the top it would fix that since it's just a few millimeters too tall. For me, the 3 bright LED's are annoying since I like almost total darkness at night. But that is just me. Many people won't be bothered by them at all. I guess some would say that the overall size of them is an issue and might be an eyesore. I'm not bothered by it though. They look like a tech gadget but know that they are about 6hx3wx2d (in) which means they are about the size of a small brick.

Bought for home use. Realized it came in a different plug type for my country, but I currently use it with an adapter, and it still gives decent speed and stable connection.

I am using this to get internet to my security system in the detached garage. Works great. I have a few electrical panels in the house - so I just needed to connect to an outlet on the same panel that connects to the garage sub panel and it worked well. Speeds are good and setup is easy. Would have set this up years ago if I knew it would be so easy. Just followed the instructions. Also used a laptop to test the speed at a few outlets to see what would work best for me.

It actually works! Have an extension on the other side of my house that is separated by brick. Mesh wifi was useless because the signal couldn’t penetrate and I debated if it was worth it to run an Ethernet cable. I used this thing and I finally have consistent internet service to that area! You’re not going to get the advertised speeds, but it’s a stable connection and allows for two ports. I plug this into one of my Wi-Fi pucks and I’ve gotten 50 MBPs down in that area (which is all I need) but have a 1.5 gigabit plan.
