2001 wrangler back and cooler than ever
saved my butt when another seller sent me the wrong pump. this one’s overnight delivery got my 01 wrangler 4.0 back on the road. packaging was beat to heck but everything was in good shape. skip the included gasket and go felpro. included pulley fasteners were a nice bonus

Worked as specified on my 2004 Jeep TJ Wrangler Unlimited (LJ)
I installed this in my 2004 Jeep TJ Wrangler Unlimited (LJ) and it worked as specified. Mine had a metal (aluminum) impeller. The stock unit, which lasted 113,000 miles, had a plastic impeller. I also purchased a Fel-Pro water pump gasket. I used thread sealer and torqued all the bolts to specification and in correct order. I used a shop towel to fill the opening where the impeller goes into the engine. This is to keep debris out as you have to scrape off all of the old gasket material. I used a scraper with a new razor blade. Be careful not to gouge the metal on the engine. Take your time and do a good job or you will likely have leaks. When you pull out the shop towel, make sure no debris got in. You can pick it out or use a wet/dry vacuum if needed, but no foreign material should go in the engine. Note: If you do this yourself, you will need to remove the fan blade and fan clutch. The fan requires a special fan removal tool, however, I was able to use a "monkey" (pipe) wrench instead. If I ever do this again, I will get the proper tool. The clutch will have to be removed from the old pump and bolted to the new pump. I reused the original bolts with no issue. You will also have to disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator and remove the serpentine belt. Additionally, you will need a ratchet or breaker bar to relieve the tension on the belt. The "belt tensioner", which keeps the belt tight, has a small square hole for this. After everything is installed and connected, you will need to top off your coolant. I used Zerex G05 as it is the type specified by Mopar. You can get the coolant premixed 50/50 or full strength, which you will have to mix yourself depending on where you live and the season. I'm in South Florida, so 50/50 is perfect all year. Only use distilled water if you are mixing your own. It took me about 4 hours in my driveway start to finish. I am not a mechanic, but I always triple check my work and use a Chilton's manual, Jeep forums and Youtube to learn how to do these repairs. Use the manual for all your torque specs...always torque properly. Never guess! If you have any questions, post them. I'll do my best to answer them.

It's a water pump alright
Fit perfectly fine on my 04 wj, metal impeller. As others say, the supplied gasket feels flimsy.. but, since someone none of the parts stores near me had one for a 4.0 in stock, I sent it anyways. Used a thin coat of rtv on both sides and torqued to gutentight spec. Also replaced tstat gasket and rad cap with a Mopar unit at the same time. Works like you'd expect, all factory bolts fit like they should, other than pulley bolts. Have to use the ones supplied in the kit. A little tip to make removing the shroud super easy - use a hacksaw blade and just cut the plastic tab off on the PITA bolt. You know the one. Can easily access the other 3 10mms. Shroud comes off in about 15 mins.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0
This pump was an exact fit for my inline 6 JGC. Quality seems OK for made in china. Time will tell how long it lasts. Install is pretty easy on the 4.0 with the fan shroud removed. Based on other reviews I bought the Fel Pro gasket, but the one supplied seemed decent. I used Permatex water pump RTV anyways. I would highly recommend replacing the water pump pipe with the Dorman (less than $20) since the original is probably super rusty and will be a real pain removing and reinstalling.
