Perfect for Meshtastic!
This is a legit Heltec unit, and you can flash these with the Meshtastic firmware for the Heltec Stick Lite v3. The Wifi/Bluetooth antenna works much better than the one built into the V3, and the LoRa antenna this comes with is actually properly tuned to the 915mhz band. So nothing needs to be replaced out of the box. Screen does not work with Meshtastic, but these cost less than $1 more than the version without the screen, and are actually available. The low cost and quality wifi antenna make these a great home "router" to put up in your attic and use with your client nodes with screens.

Small screen issue with current meshtastic firmware.
Works great. The small screen does not work with meshtastic yet. But I am still able to use on the mesh network just fine. All other functions work. I wanted a low power board for the price I paid. Easy to use on meshtastic.

Great for meshtastic slim node.
I now have 4 of these operating as USB powered meshtastic nodes. They run for 4 or 5 days on 5000mah battery. The screen is not supported yet due to size. But it is not required . Ordered 4 more to build out local emcomm tools for neighborhood.

Test it carefully
The boad is on paper great but not reliable. The BLE it too unstable with Micropython. I've spent weeks trying to understand why my code was not working just to discover it was not me, but the board. My suggestion it buy it, test it quicly and send it back if anything is not working as expected. Too late for me to send it back now.

Works well
Screen doesn't play well with Meshtastic but works for transmission and reception of signals great. If used as standard microcontroller it works great once you figure out the pin out with the guide on the Heltec site

It works, but the small screen is useless
Bought this for a Meshtastic LoRa device. Problem is if you install the Heltec V3 firmware the font size is too large for the screen. If you use the Heltec Wireless Stick firmware the screen doesn't work at all. So either way, the device will work but only if you set a fixed bluetooth pin. The one firmware you can't read the whole pin on the screen because the font is too large, the other you can't read the pin at all. Probably not the board's problem, but the Meshtastic firmware not built to use this board. Make sure you check board compatibility before you buy.

Took a little bit to figure out, but once done it's a great little board!
With these little development boards everyone has their own specific use and expectations. I was working on a straight LoRa temperature and humidity sensor fed by a solar panel and hooked up to a small battery. It took me a bit to figure out the libraries that I wanted to use eventually settling on the non-official Heltec libraries. Once I figured out the differences between LoRa and LoRaWan I was off and running. Compact with plenty of IO for my use.

Digging for Documentation and Defines Required, but All ESP32 Goodness After That!!
This is a really terrific board, and value for the money compared to cobbling up a separate LoRa + ESP32S3 kit. The Heltec boards (this one, and the LoRa Wifi V3) can seem like they came from Hades until you find the right options for your PlatformIO.ini file. You'll have to add some -D items to identifiy the board (such as -DWIRELESS_STICK_V3), and also, use the Heltec library, but once you get past that, you're all set!!! Be REALLY sure to find the V3 board and its options when you search through examples and documentation.
