You can test vinyl flooring to see if there is moisture in/or under it. Make sure you have the correct setting for the material under the vinyl flooring. It reads about half an inch "deep" through the vinyl. If it is on concrete then it should be on scale #3. You will have to practice to be able to interpret the trend in readings on concrete. A change in composition of the concrete, or a patch, can give erroneous results even though little or no "added" water is in the vinyl on top of the concrete.For vinyl on wood sub floor use the wood scale - #1.
