## Description

Review: Great idea, lackluster implementation - A mouse for the PS2? Awesome! It was just what I wanted for all the first person shooters out there. Unfortunately, the actual product is mediocre at best. It feels very cheaply constructed, the buttons are hard to push (especially on the mouse), and it just doesn't track very smoothly. The lag is definitely noticeable. It is an improvement over the regular DualShock controller somewhat, but as a PC gamer, I found the performance to be unsatisfactory and returned it.
Review: Awesome! - I was looking for this product long time ago, since i was unable to play FPS in a regular way, as i played in PC. Very good product, well finished, and good response in games. Excelent choice!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wii-like Nunchuck + mouse for your PS2
*by K***. on July 30, 2008*

I was really skeptic about this product before purchasing. I researched several sites, and while some sites praised this controller, most did not recommend this. I decided to give it a try, since Amazon had a great price on this. I have tried it with several games, mostly FPS (what this is intended for), and in the end, you will love this or hate it DEPENDING ON THE GAME you play. The "Nunchuck" side has: L1, L2, "Focus Button" (will explain later), Dial for adjusting mouse sensitivity, SELECT, D-pad, and LEFT JOYSTICK. The "MOUSE" side has: R1 (left click), R3 (middle button), R2 (right click), and START button. And where you would normally rest your thumb on the mouse, it has the Triangle, Square, Circle, X buttons. The MOUSE basically functions the same as the RIGHT JOYSTICK on a regular controller. Most FPS games on the PS2 use the RIGHT JOYSTICK to aim. For the most part, it works great for certain games. However, there is one MAJOR flaw. If the game requires you to *HOLD* on to a certain position on the joystick to aim, with a regular controller, you will have problems with the EdgeFX. You cannot "HOLD" a position with this "MOUSE". You're basically making quick joystick movements with the mouse. Therefore, for a game like TimeSplitters 2, the game is unplayable with the EdgeFX -- you will NOT be able to aim accurately at all because of this flaw. It was great using the EdgeFX with the game "Killzone", until I got to sniping with it. Sniping in Killzone, with the EdgeFX, is just VERY difficult and frustrating. Like I mentioned before, the mouse cannot hold a position like you would aim with a regular controller. There is an extra white button near the L1 and L2 buttons called the "FOCUS BUTTON". All it does basically is sets the sensitivity really low on the mouse (RIGHT JOYSTICK) when you press it, hence you'll be able to "focus" the aim more. Instead of a "FOCUS" button, it would have been more useful to have a "lock" position feature button, so if you were to make a mouse motion to the bottom corner and quickly press the "lock" button then it would be like as if you're holding down the joystick down the entire time to the bottom corner until you release that "lock" (or whatever you want to call it) button. Just an idea. However, if the game software (ie: James Bond games) remembers the crosshair position for you, just by moving the joystick and not having to hold on to it, then the EdgeFX works fine. The game Red Faction on PS2 supports an actual PC mouse/keyboard via USB (not many games support it). I have played that game with an actual USB mouse and compared with the EdgeFX. The mouse was definitely more accurate. Again, the EdgeFX mouse just emulates the the right joystick. However, the EdgeFX is still pretty decent - and for some games, like the James Bond games, it's much nicer using the EdgeFX than using a regular controller. I would recommend this controller if you play the James Bond games. There is an actual button for the R3 on the mouse, which is much nicer than pushing on a joystick on a regular controller. The mouse does have rumble. However, it can really interfere with the aiming, so it's best to keep it off. Luckily, it CAN be turned off just by holding Select + R3. It's nice that the left joystick (Nunchuck) and the right joystick (Mouse) is separated, so you can have both to your side in a relaxing position than holding on to a regular controller. Something to keep in mind: On certain games, sometimes the controller disconnects when at a menu or movie cutscene. The red LED on the Nunchuck will tell you if the controller is being powered or not. When that problem occurs, I have to unplug and plug the controller back in. It would have been nice to at least have the mouse wireless. I was going to give this product a 3-star rating, but I have to admit, I do like using the EdgeFX than a regular controller on certain games, so I will be a bit lenient and give it a 4-star. However, it is far from 5-star product. The mouse is optical and the mouse pad is nice, as well as the "Nunchuck" rest holder, but the controller/mouse is rather on the cheap-material side. Overall the button placement is nice and feels natural in games. In some games, you may have to adjust the settings (see recommended games). Recommended games with this controller: - BLACK - Call of Duty 3 - James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing - James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire (Recommend using Setup 3 in control options) - James Bond 007: Nightfire (Recommend using 'Moonraker' control profile and normal instead of invert) - Kingdom Hearts 2 - Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence - Project Snowblind - Red Faction 2 NOT recommended with this controller: - Games that require you to HOLD on to the right joystick. - Killzone (sniping with EdgeFX is not recommended - regular controller is much easier) - Kingdom Hearts - TimeSplitters 2
