Welcome to Battlefleet Gothic, the game of spaceship combat set during the Gothic War in the 41st millennium: a grim time when the Inperium of Mankind battles for survival in a hostile galaxy. Battlefleet Gothic allows you to command fleets of warships in deadly conflict among the stars, though whether as Mankind's saviour or its destroyer remains to be seen. The first section of Battlefleet Gothic details the core rules of the game - the nuts and bolts of how different ships move and fight in space. Later sections cover the history of the Gothic War and how to fight a series of battles as part of an ongoing campaign. Review: Good book - I don't know anyone who plays this game but I bought the book and a fleet just for fun. After reading it I really wished others in my area played the game. While the game lacks the physics of space flight it doesn't detract from the rules. The ships vary and all seem incredibly interesting, though the Eldar (in this book) are definitely a back seat fleet. Review: Entertaining coffeebook table read - Great fun to read. Even if you only play Warhammer 40K miniatures and not the actual Battlefleet Gothic tabletop game, this is a very entertaining read. Lots of interesting artwork and background. The basic rules don't seem too complicated. Although the boxed game has been unavailable for several years, you can still find 3rd party miniatures, tokens, and dice, and play the game. I'm putting together the materials now, and play to play with a wargaming pal soon.
