This book has jumped to the top of my favorites list! It's much bigger than I expected, it contains a beautiful photo with each recipe, and the recipes not only look yummy, but are easy to follow. The ingredients are those I usually have on hand. Most recipes start with a cake mix, but sshhhh....that's been my secret for years! I can't wait to try the Shirley Temple Cupcakes...with Maraschino cherries and almond extract, they have to be scrumptious. I'm so happy to add this book to my collection. I'll probably be purchasing more copies, as it would make a terrific gift. I have had it for a couple of years and I have made probably half of all the recipes in it. They are easy and delicious.My family's favorite recipes are:Orange White ChocolatePeanut Butter and ChocolateBlackberry White ChocolateCookie DoughCookies and CreamAll of the recipes start with cake mixes. Although I personally prefer homemade cakes, I also see the value and convenience of using cake mixes. Cake mixes are more fail proof, and perfect for beginning bakers. When I first started using this book, I always used a cake mix. All of the favorite recipes I listed have been made multiple times exactly as written in the book and they were delicious! Now, I typically use one of my homemade cake batters, but I still use this book for the frosting recipes and flavor ideas. I have altered my standard from scratch chocolate or vanilla cake into different flavors based on the recipes in this book. So even those that don't like using cake mixes, can find great recipes and ideas in this book! The tips and guidelines are great! Perfect for helping anyone learn how to frost cupcakes. I like baking from scratch but all of the cupcakes I've tried from this cookbook taste amazing and homemade. The people who left negative reviews about it using cake mixes should have read the description!This is one of my favorite baking cookbooks is because this book shows that you don't have to be a professional baker to make delicious and beautiful cupcakes. I love all of the unique cupcakes Lizzy has come up with.
