This book has been a very challenging and convicting book for me to read. On almost every page, l felt the Holy Spirit picking my heart and showing me where l have missed God's will concerning how to be under authority and be in authority. I will be reading it again along with the audiobook so that l can make the truths contained therein are apart of who lam so that l may fulfill the calling that God has placed on my life.

i will be updating this soon, however, as i am in the process of reading, it has caused me to deeply think of the Scriptures at hand and see how in the beginning, God had His authority in place.there was clarity and a revelation to see Scripture differently than how i’ve had before (i.e: as the example of adam and even in the garden of eden).nee reveals the principle of satan—which resulted in the fall of man and also explains detrimental effects on those who rebel against the authority of God. so far this book has placed a desire to understand His authority, to experience His authority, to obey and respect His authority, as well as become aware—such as paul—to know those of which God has delegated authority to.very good read and def recommend for others who are seeking for more understanding of how God sets things in place.

Our pastor, Kevin Duncan of First Baptist Church of San Manuel, referenced this book during a sermon on Spiritual Authority. I got it on my Kindle Fire and it is amazing. It should be required reading for any person who is in a leadership position in the church, Pastor, teacher, deacons, etc. The first 20% of the book tells those of us not in a leadership position that we need to realize that God alone has Authority. The rest of the book tells leaders that if they believe that they have a special authority because of their position that God has no use for them and will not bless them. He repeatedly tells leaders that they will have detractors just as Moses did, but that we are not to attack those who disagree with us. He points out with scripture that the correction of detractors is God's job and His alone. He also points out that no leaders opinion is any more important or right than the congregation's. Basically Brother Nee tells leaders that their ministerial life, whatever position, will be blessed if they surrender to God, never put their opinion on level with God, just do the job that God gave them to do (preach, tech, serve) and to trust God to handle the big issues. A prayer book

This is an excellent book for those seeking an understanding of how God organizes His kingdom and establishes spiritual authority. The syntax may be a bit challenging because Watchman Nee was writing over fifty years ago, but his wisdom and insight remain fresh.

Authority.... I used to view that word with a lot more suspicion than I do now. For myself, it used to be important for me to "respect" the person in authority over me. The idea of submitting myself to the authority of anything ran contrary to my independent streak. It had to be my idea. Anyone in authority over me had to "earn" my respect.This book completely challenged these notions I had. It showed me how I was wrong in my thinking and why. It even gave me biblical examples of how submission to authority is so important for anyone who professes belief in God. What I realized was the nature of my internal "rebelliousness" and how it affected everything all the relationships in my life from God to my work whether I was in authority or under authority. What is funny is that prior to reading this book, I never would have thought I had a spirit of rebelliousness within me.When I was first getting into the book, questions swam in my mind of how authority impacted my life and how authority or rebellion to authority had shaped our world. Armed with Nee's premise that all authority stems from God and is delegated to those in authority over us, freed me to move more freely in my relationships with others. It also freed me by showing me the difference between submitting authority as being institution or person specific and obeying authority being event specific. It even discussed how we should go about dealing with authorities in our lives when we have to disobey them while still submitting to their authority. Sound like a paradox? Read the book and you'll understand.If you read one book on your Christian faith and walking in discipleship, this one should be in your top ten of which to consider.

Very convicting. Especially heading into the 2024 election. Beware of a critical spirit everyone that you may be wrestling with God Himsrlf!
