Progressive International Prepworks NUT Chopper, One Size (Grey)

It works great. I bought this specifically to chop almonds, and it works! It chops them into pretty small pieces in the fine (counterclockwise) direction, and if I want them finer, I just put them through again. The wide base is very convenient. It keeps it steady while you're chopping and holds quite a bit. And then you just remove the bottom cover to dump the contents. It's a good size but small enough to store easily

I tried it on walnuts. "I should have more walnuts in my diet and less Gluten" sooo. This is great! Put the walnuts or whatever kind of nuts you want in the top. The crank indicates to turn in one way for fine chop and turn the other way for coarse chop. The you turn it (which is not the smoothest to do, but it is what it is) and the chopped nuts go into the holder below. Not as messy as me chopping with a knife and lots safer. I can chop twice as many nuts in the same time. ( I put them in my yogurt with blueberries.) It seems the nuts I refrigerated are a bit easier to chop. I have washed it in dishwasher top rack twice and it comes out fine. I am impressed with this! There are even measurements on the bottom cup so you can see how much you have chopped, for recipes. Turn the whole thing over, open the bottom lid and you can dump the nuts out easily. April 2026 Update... almost a year later, it has a crack in the base and I agree with others that you have to dig out the walnuts between blades. I haven't had any other parts break off, but I will try another brand. I only grind walnuts and pecans. They are just right on blueberries and GF LF SF yogurt.

I had the older version of this chopper and it finally split. Because of its long life I went with the same manufacturer for the new one. Unusually, the new version isn't up to par with the old. But, this is the exception. Well made, the square form is more easily handled and the exit flap is wonderful. Highly recommend.

This was intended to replace the nut chopper I inherited from my grandmother (made in the ‘80s), and this looked most like it. Item arrived as advertised, works as described, well built and sturdy. The base does move a little, but not bad compared to some other products I’ve used so it’s tolerable. The one thing I don’t like is how finely the “coarse” setting chops things. I like to make pecan tassies and cranberry nut bread during the holidays. The tassies work best with a very finely chopped pecan, so this is perfect for that! However, for the cranberry nut bread, I like a fairly coarse chop, and this just isn’t it. I ended up having to chop them by hand. I also couldn’t use it for the cranberries, they just got mashed and made a huge mess. Bottom line- it works as described, but the “coarse” option isn’t as coarse as I would prefer. The “fine” option makes a veritable powder out of pecans. I’ve not used it for anything other than pecans though.

This works amazingly well and seems like it will hold up for a long time.

I thought this would be the answer to my hatred of chopping nuts or paying the high price of chopped nuts in the store. It turns out that the only positive thing I can say is that the retro color is cool. This chopper does not work!! The parts are difficult to put together and don't stay together when you turn the handle to chop nuts unless you push down hard on the top. And even then, if you aren't pressing down straight, the chopper topples over, the components came apart and chopped nuts spill all over your counter. So, after I cleaned up the mess, even though I was turning in the direction to produce larger pieces, at least half of what came out was powder (nut meal); totally unusable for what I was baking! I'm honestly not sure how you're supposed to get the "chopped" nuts out successfully. When I turned the chopper over to empty the bottom compartment, I apparently wasn't holding all the parts together strongly enough because the components came apart again...nuts all over the counter!! This chopper has serious design issues!! I wish I had returned this after the first use but I decided to try it again knowing all I had learned about it. The second time was only marginally better. I still had to man-handle it and I basically got nut powder in the end. I was going to give it to Goodwill but decided it wouldn't be fair to whoever bought it and threw it away instead. I have only ever written one bad review before this and didn't really want to spend the time writing this one, but I felt strongly that I needed to tell of my experience.

I am so pleased with this product. It washed up very easily. I am disabled with a lifetime rotator cup injury and the crank was NOT difficult to turn. The most important part for me is the nuts did NOT turn into powder like my bigger kitchen appliances resulted in.

Good price for good quality

I was looking for something like the one my mom used, acquired in the middle of the last century. It works perfectly and has a higher capacity than the one she had.

Very useful, well-made, simple to use, and does a great job. Handy to have, especially if you need finely cut nuts. I only had it a few months and do not use it constantly, so I cannot give any durability opinion, but it is well made and stylish, but better not to use a heavy hand. Update 10/01/2023: Well, I recently started using it carefully every day, and the first problem has arisen. Having worked in engineering, the part that concerned me the most when I first bought it was the spindle housing. The top part of the housing (on the opposite side of the handle) broke off. (I have noticed that Chinese plastic degrades fast, but?) So, now I will have to buy something else. Disappointed!
