excellent item if you have commom sense
i read many reviews on this unit. the majority of bad reviews on this are regarding the net and it being to tight or small when bar is fully extended. i agree it gets alittle tight when fully extended however if it was larger it would sag when not extended much a simple fix is to just ad a small bungee cord to the net or drill another hole in the bar to lengthen the net, the unit even comes with one cord. I have a full size denali and i am a contractor, this thing works awesome and net works well also its not meant for (bags of concrete duh!) but holds a decent amount of items. heavy items (hitches etc) of course are going to sag down an expandable stretchy net. this is well worth the $ i looked at more expensive units and considered them however this unit is more than adequate for most uses. If your trying to secure large loads i quess i would consider a more sturdy unit but all are pressure fit so those loads should be secured with straps also. I would recommend this unit

NICE and SIMPLE
Works great in my Colorado . Keeps 5 gal. water bottles in place for refill . Very simple to use. Net keeps smaller loose things together . Use this bar for what it is intended for and there should be no problems .

... ratcheting Cargo Bar for my pick up because I liked the idea of having that cargo basket
I got this ratcheting Cargo Bar for my pick up because I liked the idea of having that cargo basket. The bar is indeed of very good quality, with what looks like a hammered finish paint job on the outer bar and a smooth stainless steel (it looks like it) inner bar. The ratcheting mechanism is all metal so I'm sure it will stand up to time and weather as long as it gets some lubrication now and again. Definitely do not want anything made of plastic on the mechanism, which is exposed to the elements all the time. The only reason I gave this item 4 stars is the other side of the bar where the steel pins are supposed to be inserted so that it holds the stretchy cargo net is supposed to hang from, did NOT have a hole drilled through it to slide the steel pin in. I had to drill the hole myself. Not a big deal but that's definitely a manufacturing issue that the maker needs to address or they will have a bunch of returned bars! Otherwise, the product worked as advertised. It holds in place big, heavy stuff in the bed of my truck. The stretch netting holds lightweight loose items as advertised. This cargo net is extremely handy for plastic grocery bags, even ones stuffed to the handles go right into the net and stay in place. Works with small potted plants too! Basically, anything small, or round, and/or lightweight is secured by the netting. Bigger, bulkier, heavier items is held in place by the bar itself. The one big take away is that the stretch net probably won't stand up well to rain. If you don't mind it getting wet and just letting it air-dry then fine. Otherwise, that net will absorb moisture quickly and hold on to it and may transfer that moisture on the cargo it's wrapped around in. The net can be removed easily though so again, not a big deal. I recommend this product to anyone with an SUV, or pick up truck.

Great accessory for your truck
I use this product more than any other accessory I've purchased for my truck. The build quality is great, it's extremely sturdy, it has yet to develop any rust, and it's very light and easy to move around. Could not be happier with this purchase.

The cargo bar itself is pretty good - the net is functionally useless
Got this cargo bar and net for the bed of a 2020 Ford Ranger. The bar is fine - it ratchets across and the footpads on either side hold firmly to the sidewalls of the bed of the truck. So far so good. But the cargo net, when stretching across the bed of a truck, is so tight that I can't see it being of much use. The net attaches to either end of the bar, and when you extend the bar to fit the bed, the net pulls T I G H T. I can't imagine that after a little while the elastic wouldn't just pop from being under that level of tension the whole time. If I did it over again, I'd save the $20 or so and just get the bar without the net. I suppose, if you're putting it in the back of an SUV or something not as wide as a truck bed, the net might be ok. Option B might be making my own net out of netting from a big box store, but then why buy the net with this one?

Best truck bed accessory EVER!
I absolutely LOVE this item! I drive a single cab pick up and so as you can imagine trips to the grocery store are a pain in the @$$ with those little bags stuffed in the passenger seat and behind the seats. Then when God forbid you have to put something in the back of the truck your retrieval options are take the tonneau cover off, grab the stuff that rolled up against the cab, take it in the house then come back out and put your cover back on OR the lazy and oh so attractive in work clothes method (which I generally employ) of doing the caterpillar to the from of the truck bed and backwards dragging out your commercial size package of toilet paper. With the standard load bar, those small annoying bags either roll under if the bar is too high or sprout legs and jump over if the bar is too low. This product is awesome. First and most obvious is that those annoying little bags stay put in the net and a second and unexpected plus.... you can fit so many of them in the net that they create a barrier so you can put additional item in front of it and they're right there when you drop your truck bed! No more caterpillar crawl for the beloved TP!

It will hold…
This one does exactly as advertised. It really holds everything in place and the ratching action makes it awesome and a perfect fit. It is so nice not to have to crawl up on the truck as least not as often. But this holds or is holding everything in place. Definitely have so other uses for this bar!

Great product
This is a great addition to our truck. We really needed something to use to keep stuff from flying all over the back while we were driving, be it groceries, tackle boxes or other miscellany. It really does the job and does it well. For anyone looking for a size reference we're using this in a 2012 Ram 1500 with a liner and it fits just fine (in fact it can extend more without issue, should the bed of your truck be a bit bigger). It was very easy to set up after arrival, less than five minutes, there were two of us, but it could easily be done by one person if need be. The bar is heavy enough not to feel like it will buckle under the weight of your items, but it's not a heavy duty bar either. The net attaches to the bar with a hitch pin on either side My single complaint with this product is that the net doesn't set quite right, but it's such a minor problem that it barely registers after you've installed it.. The net is small but stretchy so you can fit a decent amount into what seems like a small space. The ratcheting bar is easy to operate and the extendable bar glides smoothly in and out for removal or adjustment. One thing worth noting is that we have a plastic bed liner installed and if it gets dusty back there, the bar does slip a bit (not much), but figured I should mention it. :D I'd certainly buy this again if I were in the market for another and would recommend without hesitation.

A challenge well met!
I've read some of the other reviews, one of which stated that this was difficult to install and had to be stretched a lot to fit across a full size pickup bed. This is not correct. The only difficulty I had was attaching the net to the bar with the clips provided. One end was fine, but the larger end took me several frustrating minutes because the clip just did not want to go over the larger tube. THe above said, the installation was very easy and the net is suspended a bit off the floor to prevent scraping back and forth. Other than the fact that one clip could have been a tiny bit bigger, I would strongly recommend this product.

Excelente calidad de materiales
Lo uso en una camioneta RAM 700 y funciona de maravilla para que la carga no se mueva. La calidad de los materiales es muy buena. Se siente sólida y las bases articuladas le da un perfecto agarre en cualquier área.

great product to help keep items near the tail gate.
This product is very easy to install and is very sturdy. The racket bar really helps keep thing by the tail gate under the tonne cover. It does require random checks to ensure it is still ratcheted in tight. The cargo net bag is just a flat square cargo net folded in half. It does what it is suppose to do.
