MK-S/PACK Makala Soprano Ukulele Pack

Purchased this for a grandchild who's fascinated with her dad's mandolin and her grandfather's electric guitar. It's the perfect size for a young beginning player, has a reasonable price point, and looks and sounds really great. We added a strap for color and a set of rainbow felt picks, but the ukulele comes with a nice soft case, digital tuner, and instruction booklet. Quality strings, too. Go for it!

I purchased this ukulele because I just attended a beginner's class at my library and fell in love with playing. Our instructor recommended the Makala brand for beginners, but she had the plastic ones. While they are cool on their own, I really wanted one that was wood, or at least looked like it, so I ordered this one. The bag is really nice and the ukulele fits so beautifully inside. The tuner works great! The actually ukulele looks beautiful and sounds really nice! I am learning some basic chords (which are notated in the book that comes with the ukulele, which is super helpful!) and really enjoying it! I completely recommend this ukulele to anyone else looking to begin! NOTE: I did hear from some ukulele players that it is somewhat normal for you ukulele to frequently go out of tune when you first purchase it due to the strings. I have been tuning it a few times a day everyday since I got it and it does seem to be holding the tune longer. Don't be discouraged if yours seems to go out of tune a lot as you play when you first purchase!

So far, had it a month, I'm enjoying my Uke! I appreciate the whole package, not having to shop for bits and pieces. The tuner is so easy to use - it just takes me a bit of time to stop and remember which way to turn the knobs in the right direction. I've found several pieces of sheet music online that I've been able to download for free - and am able, I think, to play a few of them already. I took piano lessons for several years back when I was in elementary/ junior high school and have played hand bells at Church the last 3 or 4 years, so I can read music a bit . . . but I've never played a stringed instrument before . . . I'm having fun trying to teach myself how to play! Looking forward to going to one of the semi-local music stores in two weeks for a free lesson . . . and then I'm hoping to play one or two songs up at Church Camp during our Talent Show . . . that should really freak out several Friends!

This is the cutest banjo I've ever played! It doesn't sound half as terrible as the standup banjo my friend got me last Christmas. You can play all sorts of random sounds on every string or you can play a lot of strings at the same time because you don't have that stupid banjo wax wand like with the standup banjo and so you can play like a hundred sounds at the same time and make people ask you to quit it because they're so jealous of my wandless banjo they go home and cry. I really like that you can look up sheet music for it for free online, but I really can't understand why all the songs are written for a six string instrument when this only has four so I keep having to skip over all the fifth and sixth strings in the music and it doesn't always sound right even when I play all four strings that I do have perfectly. It's great for pros like me though, get it only if you've played bigger instruments before because as my neighbor always tells me, the bigger the banjo, the easier to play.

My daugter picked it up and learned cords on day 1! Nice quality and sound! Great first buy!

this year learning to play Ukulele is on my bucket list. I bought this package because it contained everything I need for my new adventure. The Ukulele is well made and beautiful, the tuner was a must because I'm not musically inclined. It comes with a great carrying case. I recommend this for anyone who is interested in learning to play or just starting out.

The strings were installed in an incorrect order. They tuned beautifully but not as GCEA. The wood is nice and the sound once we restrung it was great.

This is a good value, you receive a complete package to get you started. While it took awhile to finally get it tuned, once tuned, all is good.

I have never played the ukulele before but wanted to learn and play it in my classroom. I was recommended this brand and it is great, quality made and the carry bag is great. Definitely be prepared to tune it continuously, as everyone says. I know it will settle.

Bought this for my 8 year old and he loved it very much! The ukulele came very well packaged and came earlier than expected. However, it still needs very frequent tuning before each play.

Que d’hésitations avant d’arrêter mon choix sur ce modèle ! Très satisfaite du son rendu, car, malgré mon absence d’expérience sur uku , j’ai pratiqué le violon pendant une bonne douzaine d’années donc j’ai l’habitude du rendu sonore d’un instrument à cordes et je trouve celui-ci chaleureux et bien rond. Ce modèle est livré avec le nécessaire pour commencer, notamment l’accordeur indispensable et une housse noire made in China… Pour éviter d’avoir à régler sans arrêt les cordes, ce qui est inévitable avec un instrument neuf, il est capital de suivre le conseil donné par la marque pour un stretching des Aquila (top !!!) fournies de base. Une vidéo sur le site Kala explique comment les détendre AVANT de les accorder. En 4 jours, je ne le fais plus qu’une fois ou deux par session d’une heure de pratique quotidienne. C’est peu !!! Esthétiquement le ukulélé est joli et numéroté sur l’étiquette intérieure, preuve que c’est bien un Kala made in USA et pas une contrefaçon ridicule. Je pense qu’il peut être préférable d’acheter séparément le contenu du pack, pour plus de choix de couleurs pour la housse, mais je ne regrette pas du tout mon achat.
