A LOT of tool for the money.
I am extremely impressed with the tool compared to the cost. I bought the 12 inch compass divider and it is a lot of well-made tool for the money. Some of the comments are speaking on alignment… And for a couple hundred dollars, you can get perfect alignment in your points from Starret. It’s not necessary to start with. I am also seeing comments on small circle size… Don’t use a 12 inch tool to scribe a 2 inch radius. We will call that a user mistake. If you don’t like the two complementary pencils… The pencil holder is big enough to hold a big mechanical pencil or any standard art pencil so use what you’re comfortable with. I own quite a few dividers, calipers, compasses, and so on and this is a safe purchase if you need a large divider. Well-made, well constructed, decent finish with maybe a couple aesthetic blemishes that will not affect its performance in anyway

Solid, Sturdy, Secure.
I just learned about these from a book maker who suggested this tool as a means of holding a specific space between two points, thus eliminating the need to fuss with a ruler. As someone who is blind and struggles with reading rulers without getting extremely close, I love this option for marking points to puncture holes for binding among other things. This particular version of the tool feels solid and sturdy and doesn't wobble and stays securely open to where I set it.

Misaligned Tips make using this difficult
Misaligned points. Build of the product feels great but the misaligned tips make using this tool feel terrible. Unfortunate.
