Incredibly well built. Feels solid and hefty with a full metal frame. Good amount of weight to it too, won't shift around easily. Never bought a Cherry peripheral before, but am very happy with this one. Lighting effects are great, the light diffuses beautifully. Software is easy to use and unobtrusive. While not necessary, the case it comes with is great presentation wise and a nice touch. However, would have liked it to be optional. This keyboard w/o the case at ~$160 would be an 11/10 product. Switches are MX reds - not much to say about them that hasn't been said already by a million other people on the internet. Side note - would be really nice to have a speed silver version of this keyboard. Please make one. This is a far more satisfying purchase than any Corsair or Razer keyboard I've owned. Probably won't die within 2 years either.

The backlight settings, once you manage to obtain the utility to control them, are not persistent. The keyboard must be connected via usb cable to set the backlighting, but when you disconnect and run using bluetooth, after a while your settings are replaced by some defaults. To control backlighting, the instructions say to download the "Cherry Gaming Software" at [url redacted] but that is totally misleading because that URL has no software nor does it link to something which does. There's a search function on the Cherry website mentioned above; searching for "Cherry Gaming Software" finds nothing relevant. Searching for just "Software" show product pages including this keyboard (MX 8.2 TKL), and that page has a "Downloads" section. But... it only contains product manual PDFs, no software. Ultimately I used Google to find a link to a "Utility" which can change the backlight color but not the timeout interval. I would tell you the URL but Amazon rejected this review once before because it contained "Links to other sites". Just search for "Software Download CHERRY UTILITY" and you will find it. As far as I can tell the "Cherry Gaming Software" the instructions say to download does not exist. As for the keyboard hardware, it's good. The Brown key switches feel like those in an older corded keyboard I have and love but with a little bit lighter pressure to type. I'm happy about that. To Cherry: COME ON PEOPLE! If you publish a URL to download software from, make sure the software is actually at that URL! And please fix the firmware to not forget user-applied settings.

Typing easy and compatible with devices

So far this has been a really great keyboard. Love the tactical feedback and sound of typing on a mechanical keyboard. As far as connecting it to a Mac, the only issue is that the alt and OS keys are backwards. You can easily resolve this in your keyboard setting on your Mac and swap them. The keycaps come off easily as well and once you do that, the transformation is complete!

I like the feel of the key switches. I type better than on my old keyboard. I will get another one.
