The TI-83 requires the user to remember a lot more. It uses parentheticals to enter data, so the user must enter the required data in the required order, but there is no prompt. The TI-84 gives prompts for required data points such as mean, median, z-scores, critical values, etc. It also has more data packages than the 83, so less work has to be done manually.
