Excellent performance for the price
The SP 512GB SSD A55 has been a fantastic upgrade to my system! With 3D NAND technology and SLC cache performance boost, this SSD has significantly improved my computer's boot times and overall responsiveness. Programs load quickly, and file transfers are super fast compared to my old hard drive. Installation was easy—thanks to the SATA III 2.5" format, it fit perfectly into my laptop without any issues. The 7mm slim profile is a nice bonus for compatibility with thinner laptops. Plus, with 512GB of storage, there's plenty of space for my OS, applications, and a good chunk of games or media files. For the price, the performance is top-notch, making this SSD an excellent value. Whether you're upgrading an old system or looking for additional storage, I highly recommend the SP A55 SSD. It’s reliable, fast, and gives a noticeable boost in performance!

great ssd, made my laptop faster
i bought this ssd to make my laptop load things faster, and it did exactly what i bought it for, windows loads a lot faster, with other pleasant side effects like the battery lasting this tiny bit longer, and the laptop being this tiny bit quieter. its got good performance, not only windows loads faster, but games and other programs load faster than on hard drive. for the value of capacity to dollar, this is a good drive. using the ssd as a boot drive for windows 7, 476.94 gb is shown on the drive, not anywhere near the 512 gb on the amazon listing but it was a capacity upgrade from my old 500 gb hard drive, and most other ssds will have this effect too. overall, a great upgrade for any laptop with a spinny drive.

Fast with lots of storage and priced very reasonably
1TB for under $50 is a fair price for such a decently spec’d SATA SSD. I used this drive in my user upgradable MacBook Pro with very solid results. It installed without a hiccup and formatted without issues. It is a noticeable improvement over the standard rotating storage included as standard. I don’t know how long this drive will last but I have purchased other SSD’s from the same brand and they are still going strong 4-years and 7-years later. That doesn’t always translate into like performance and/or longevity but based on my previous experiences with this brand and the price of the drive I wasn’t concerned. Fast with plenty of storage space available at a relative bargain.

Works as promised. Very easy to install. Comes with Free Cloning Software
This is big bang for the buck. It works as promised. There were no issues. I had it running in 30 mins. Flawless. Pros: 1. Works as promised. 2. Comes with free Software called ECHO 3. You can download this software from SP website. The key for this is printed on a sticker on the back of the SSD device. People have used it successfully. I have no idea how it is. I used Macrium Reflect to clone. Just wanted to document here that it comes with a free software for cloning. 3. Results are fantastic. I moved from 85/63 to 510/467 MBPS ! Well most most SSDs give that. Just documenting here that it delivered advertised speed. It could give more may be, but I have a small capacity machine. 4. Look and feel is solid. It is of no value anyway. 5. Price point is excellent. I got 512GB for $57. You would get Samsung 256GB for this price as of Jan/2019. Cons: None so far. Reliability - I have to wait and watch. Other thoughts: 1. SSD Management software is available for free download. But my antivirus stopped it saying unsafe. Read on reviews that it contains TROJAN. So I would not recommend it. You can install something free like Crystal Disk Mark but it would not monitor SMART and other things. It is better to be safe than sorry. However I appreciate them offering something for this price range. 2. I had tried Samsung Data Migration and Macrium Reflect earlier on a Samsug EVO SSD 256GB. It never worked, I had to return it. This one was very easy, it was a breeze. And costs 1/2 the money you would pay for Samsung brand. I think Samsung is just brand marketing. There is nothing much. 3. I need 2TB-4TB SSDs for NAS. I would wait for sometime for prices to fall. I would recommend this product.

Good value, some cut corners
Performance is quite good and predictable for a drive of this price point, much better than some more expensive drives from better known manufacturers. Read speeds are about the theoretical limits of the SATA bus, depending on factors like your file system, file size, etc. of course. Writes are slightly lower in burst, and substantially lower in sustained writes that overrun the SLC. However, I did find that they were able to sustain much faster write speeds than the budget line of a *major* SSD / memory manufacturer. These drives are also rated at almost twice the write durability. So, pretty good value for money. Silicon Power chose to cut cost by forgoing metal in the SSD case, these are plastic, so these drives will not sink heat off very efficiently. However, they do run on the cool side even with this handicap, so long as they're not in an unventilated hotbox of a system, they should be OK. As of these writings, these drives are not in the smartctl database (7.3/5671), so expect reduced telemetry on systems where you don't install their bloatware. It'd be very nice (and go a long way towards their credibility) if Silicon Power made the SMART info for their drives public.

works great in my new laptop.
I had purchased an inexpensive laptop with a Celeron processor. Once I got it I started to do updates from Microsoft and it froze up on the reinstall for several hours. Once I shut it down it would only open to the original starting screen, then freeze up. It had come with just a 125 Gig SSD, so I purchased this one at the surprisingly lower price and had a hard time finding a reasonably priced Windows 10 Pro on a memory stick. For a littly more than $150 dollars I had a better hard drive and an up to date Win 10 operating system. The drive was easy to install into the bottom of the laptop and booted right up to the setup screen. A couple of hours later I had it up and operating with the latest updates. It was a very welcome upgrade to a marginal computer with limit storage space and an OEM Win 10 Pro OS that was questionalbe to say the least. I now have a decent reliable backup laptop. Highly recommended.

Silicon Power is a good SSD no matter what some of the other comments here say. Its not the same say as Samsung but its close enough in terms of quality and speed, the two most important factors when deciding on a SSD. Hey if you really wanted a Samsung then you should go out, pay the fancy price and buy it. Yes I agree that Samsung reliability would be 100% but this ain't too bad either. I already own a Samsung SSD drive and wanted something budget friendly this time. Their Velox series is more for people who are exploring SSD's for the first time. This model Ace A55 is budget friendly mid range SSD which is good for laptops. The best part is that it is smaller in thickness and hence really low on weight. But it may lead to heating in the future as the thicker ones usually have better chip design and cooling built into them. I will know this summer. If installing in a laptop it will make a difference even if you already have other SSD's installed like the M.2 PCIe Gen 3 and have replaced your laptop DVD writer also with an Samsung SSD drive like me. Coming to the speed, a user here has already written an important and very helpful comment, you need to align the SSD partitions and sectors correctly if you want it to perform especially when cloning your old HDD and Windows partitions to it. I suggest the same thing and recommend using Mini Tool Partition to align the partitions to 1MB by default. I didn't need to do all this as its not the primary SSD in my laptop and not going to be the last one either but yes for my primary SSD I did need to. Where this SSD really boosts up speed is on a Macbook. Trust me when I say this but booting up MacOS using a SSD is going to feel supersonic as compared to booting up a HP Pavillion Windows 10. But yes die hard Windows fans a SSD is going to improve your loading and waiting times immensely. Its damn irritating waiting for all the tray icons to load even if you have 16 GB of RAM. For the geeks out there plenty of tests are available to check out the speed of this SSD and I think Silicon Power does not do too poorly in most of them for a mid range SSD. You can also download their ToolBox to test your drives health from time to time. They even provide a licensed cloning software if you dont have Acronis or Mini Tool. As with all my reviews I must post a little caveat, most low to medium priced SSD's including this one require some amount of system RAM to function correctly. So if you buy a SSD like this one 512 GB then be prepared to sacrifice at least 1 GB of RAM to the SSD for its caching tasks etc. That can make a difference on an old 4 GB RAM system especially if you share RAM with the inbuilt Graphics card as well. Therefore first upgrade the RAM on your old PC or laptop and then buy a SSD especially if you intend to use it for high processing power work later and really breathe life into your old system. On older systems a SSD does make a difference but where it really shines would be on a system with adequate processing power and RAM. Also please note 512 GB does not mean it will effectively show up as 512 GB for use on a Windows laptop. Its the way to do with the way the file system reports the effective space on Microsoft based systems when formatted for Windows use. On a Mac it will show up correctly as 512 GB as they have changed their operating system to report the space/size correctly. But its there on both systems as the effective size provided by the manufacturer SP has not gone anywhere. All in all go for this SSD if you want to bump your old Desktop or laptop by a notch when working or gaming by spending a little. If you want to know specifics suggest you visit the manufacturers website and look for Ace A55 which is the model number for this SSD. Its the starting model in their Ace series. For those looking to buy something more pocket friendly I suggest getting this. I am not going to explain 3D NAND etc as it does not matter to most users here but lets just say this does the job in the price you paid.
